I couldn't agree more. This site is all about SKIING. I don't come on here to educate myself on which essentially anonymous internet identities think so and so is gay. Whether people are at a point in their lives where they recognize the fact that fighting on the internet about trivial things is quite possibly the most monumentally ridiculous wastes of time imaginable or not, I can assure you all that is the case. "Winning" an argument on the internet will not improve your life and it will not make people think you are cool.
There are a lot of awesome people on NS and between us all I don't think there is really anything we don't know about skiing. All but regardless of the questions that might be posed or the ideas that are thrown out there, someone or some people have the answer and virtually all of us can make meaningful contributions that can progress threads in meaningful ways. If people were to think before making posts about whether or not what they are about to post is relevant and in some way contributes to the thread rather than detracting from it I think discussions on here could be infinitely more productive.
One obvious example of this would be how to handle the inevitably frequent threads about questions virtually all of us know the answer to or that have been asked a million times already. As Mr. Bishop mentioned it is indeed unlikely that 12 year olds are responsible for much of the hate on here because people who make threads of that nature are always absolutely crucified and are likely pretty gunshy for a while after that. If someone makes a thread that's been made before, either answer the question in a polite way or politely suggest that they try the search bar or just don't fucking say anything. The sooner that happens the thread will either die out as the question has been answered or it will go in productive new directions.
