I'm sure I'm not the only guy here who wears 'em, so whatcha got? I'm pretty new to raw denim, but I have a pair of Levis 501 STFs that have about maybe 80 wears, with 2 soaks (including initial soak) and one wash (dad threw them in the wash by mistake). I also have a pair of Blue Blood Selvedge Cuts that have maybe 20 wears and 1 initial soak. Tell me what you have and add some pics!

Sorry for shitty pics, the lighting in my room sucks and it's dark out so I can't go outside to take better ones

awesome, that's exactly what I was going to do. I have heard that some people have durability issues (threads coming out and such), but they're the cheapest pair of heavy selvedge that I could find so I'll probably pick up a pair sometime soon. Either that or I'll wait a few months and drop a bit more money on a pair of samurais or Iron Hearts, both quality brands as far as I've heard

no durability issues to speak of so far. my only gripe was that the buttons were super hard to do for the first couple days- just wait it out till they stretch a bit and it becomes way more easy. i ended up not doing any and wearing them with a belt till i could do the top one. now they are really awesome. the color is super nice, have got a lot of compliments on them so far.

Had a pair of Comine Raw Denim jeans I got for $50 on PLNDR, they were half off but they were super awesome, the best fitting jeans I had. But they got really dirty after about a month, so I washed them and my mom accidentally threw them in the dryer and they got really fucked up. They got alot skinnier, and got all wavy and wrinkly, and had a really weird texture. So I washed them again, and let them hang to dry, they went back to normal a little bit but they'll never be the same :(

damn that blows man, I had my dad throw my jeans in the wash a little prematurely but they're still coming along fine so far, but the dryer really does just kill the jeans. Also, when you wash try to wash it by itself and turned inside out, on the gentle cycle with cold water only. this will help to preserve the indigo in the jeans and keep it from fading early. The detergent Woolite also helps with this too

I'm thinking about getting a pair of Unbranded 101 Indigo Skinny Straight jeans for $70, which I think is not a bad deal. Also, I usually wear a size 30, do you guys recommend getting 29's? I've heard they stretch out over time

Take a look at the measurements of the denim you want int the size you want here. Waist will stretch an inch or two, but thighs wont stretch much, so make sure you can get away with sizing down. I cant really size down on my Weird Guys because I have huge skier thighs, waist fits, but legs dont. You are better off wearing a belt than jeans that are way too small, improper fitting denim is just gonna lead to huge crotch blowouts early and a not flattering look.

that's annoying as fuck man, I didn't know that. I'd still throw them up there though, it's likely that they won't sell here for at least a few weeks if ever, and I know a bunch of people (like myself) look on ebay for good deals on denim so I'm sure you'd get some hits

N&F weird guys is my favorite cut out there, for whatever reason it fits my body type the best imo. also i would say cost to quality wise N&F is by far your best bang for your buck. plus they always come out with unique materials, dyes weaves and collaborations.

n and f is great and all but id really reccomend samurais if you can afford them quality is great and ive never had iron hearts so i cant say anything

Yeah I've heard awesome things about samurai, but they're so damn expensive and I'm not sure that I want to throw down that much cash on something, especially with ski season being right around the corner. Iron hearts are I believe an American company (could definitely be wrong about that though) that makes a lot of heavier denim, and also is a very high quality and expensive option

Put them in the freezer to kill your sweaty ball smells. It works.

Might've been mentioned, but I don't totally buy into the freezing jeans thing. I feel like it works for a little while, but the smell normally comes back pretty soon. If anything, what I'll normally do is just hit it with febreze or rub it with dryer sheets, and then let it hang outside for a day or overnight. Although sometimes I will pop them in the freezer as a last resort, usually accompanied by a sprinkling of baking soda to kill the smell even more

I'm poor as shit right now and just bought a pair of regular levis that I like. Hopefully these last another year or two. I should have money by then to buy a new pair of jeans. How long does raw denim or salvage denim last? I'm all about the durability. The original fades and whatnot is an added bonus I guess.

I've been a big fan of the Levi 527s with to extra inches on the inseam to fold up the bottom. single fold. anything I should look at with that in mind?

Depending on how well the denim was taken care of and how many times it was worn, you could easily get 5-7 years on a pair if you choose to wear them that long.
Regarding your other question, a lot of the higher end raw denim companies make their jeans with only 1 long inseam to simplify things when manufacturing, so you can either cuff these like you do or get them hemmed to your liking. I would check on levis' website to see if they have the 527 in a rigid, because a lot of times they make their jeans with a raw option. Other than that I would check out the 501s, because they are a very inexpensive pair that are good to start with and since I personally have a pair I can attest to their durability and quality.

false, it doesn't work. the cold stops the bacteria from reproducing, but it doesn't entirely kill it. your best bet is to rub them with dryer sheets and keep some sheets in the pockets when not in use. obviously it doesn't kill it either, but it covers it up.

exactly why I only freeze it for very special occasions where I want to minimize stink for a short period of time, because it comes back eventually. febreze and fabric softeners work like a charm though

If you live in a big city, Barneys will have them. Go in, pretend your loaded, try some on, then go buy them for cheaper on the internet.



As to the freezing, just hang em outside a lot, thats what I do.

I wore them for about a year, and when I started lifting a lot they got too tight on my thighs to wear everyday. Probly only one or two washes, I'm not sure. These I've been wearing for two years, maybe 4 washes:

How do you like your Jiberish x Momotaro jeans? I bought them on the cyber Monday deal as well. They're my first pair of raw selvedge denim jeans, and I sized down to a 31 as advised, but they fit tight and I'm scared they're not gonna stretch out enough to be comfy. At the moment they're a little skinny for my taste, so I'm just curious if they stretch out as much since they're sanforized.

bump this shit up

I've been rocking a pair of N&F Big slubs for the past month or so, and I'm really diggin' em. Only problem is that they're a bit tight in the upper block area, but being that they're 19oz I'm hoping they'll stretch with more wears. It's dark here so I'll take pictures in the morning if it's not as fucking hot as it's been the past few days.
