wow i could care less how we look to the rest of the world, and honestly, when you take a look at the rest of the civilized world, do we really want to have their approval? there are very few countries whos view point i would trust, ive been all over Europe, South America, Australia, and i dont want to be like them, I've never been to another country that i liked more in terms of regulations, laws, etc.. we are far from perfect ourselves, but what i like most about the U.S. is that we ARENT like the rest of the civilized world.
I disagree with religious values being in politics as much as anyone else, and that is one area where I think we are behind and we do need to get with the program. but being 20 years, 50 years, hell 100 years behind on social values (depends what social values you're talking about) is completely fine with me. some of ours and the rest of the worlds "social values" need to make like a tree and fuck off.
and as far as the rest of the world hating us, i dont buy it, ive had hardly any negative anything from people ive met regarding my nationality or when the U.S. is brought up. and i know 3 people from Canada, 2 from Finland, 1 from Sweeden, 4 from Ireland/England, 2 from Australia and 3 from South America, currently living in the U.S. (like half the people i work with are from other parts of the world) and i have not met one that does not like it better here, and these are people who have been here anywhere between 1 and 20 something years. and the funny thing is, ive talked with some of them about the election and ive yet to talk to one who likes obama.
