My dad works his ass off and has to pay incredibly high taxes to both the Canadian and American government. President Obama still forces my dad to pay the really high taxes even though he has never lived in the country ever. And my dad can't renege on his citizenship because the new laws passed in 2008 that make it next to impossible for him to do. So there goes my college cash...
Where to even begin....
Don't complain about your dad having to pay american taxes when he "owns investment properties in the US"
That's all I'm going to say about that.
And for the love of God please stop contradicting yourself. Oh my dad's an American citizen "even though he has never lived in the country ever" and then you go to say "get to New Jersey (his home state)"
Go to hell. Its going to be 18,000$ minimum to send me to a decent school for my first year and last time I checked, 18grand wasn't exactly pocket change. It fucking BLOWS when you're family works really fucking hard to set aside cash for something like university, a new car, etc. and then has to have it taken away like that. I already work 20+ hours a week to set aside money so I can do the stuff I want now (because unlike what you stupidly assume, I don't get everything handed to me on a silver platter) and the stuff I will be doing next year when I go to college. I don't want to go to a shitty school and will have to make a lot of sacrifices to go where I want. IM FUCKING SORRY that my family and I are upset that money that we had always intended on using for my college education will now be drained because of the taxes that the Obama administration applies to my family. If we were just all Americans, living in the US it would be different. My dad would GLADLY hand over the money. But because our situation is different, and my dad has to pay for all of our Canadian taxes (which are fucking REALLY high already) it fucking SUCKS that we have to pay the taxes we do to the States. It absolutely fucking sucks. I DONT want to have to go into debt to pay for school. I really don't and neither did my family, thats why we all worked so hard to try and ensure that I didn't. It really stings.
And now for this..
You are 17 years old, white, female and I am assuming upper class because you have a fucking horse.
I voted for Obama because frankly I need to be able to afford to go to school. You don't even know, you think you know everything as you sit in your parents house having them provide for you.
I'm 21 years old, live on my own, go to one of the countries largest and best universities and will be graduating in Fall with a BA and minor.
Now let me tell you something; my dad is a single parent and is a lieutenant at a prison, a state job. My mother was laid off at the beginning of the year and actually just now found a new job (started on Monday, go mom!).
So all of those handouts the unemployed were getting, you know what, my mom still has to provide for my younger sisters, help me out with college and she was working a part time job. So yeah, I wouldn't have wanted to have seen her "left for the wolves" when she lost her job.
Anyways, back to me. I have as of now, $13,000 dollars in student loans (subsidized and unsubsidized) and will have another $5,000 next year. But here's the thing that pretty much made me vote for Obama, Romney/Ryan wanted to cut funding for Pell Grants. If you don't know what that is, it's offered to students based on your fasfa. It's pretty much the government helping pay for school, and you know what, I couldn't have attended school without it. I pay $250 a month for rent (which is obscenely cheap, i payed $325 last year) plus all utilities, not to mention my own groceries, and anything fun I do. Now, to get all honest I've got $200 in my bank account and bills are due at the end of the week which are going to drop that number to about $50. Without my pell grant I would have to find that extra $2,000 out of pocket for my tuition (I have the maximum loan amount). And believe me I had to do this last year, and had to have 3 jobs while going to school as a full time student.
So please, kindly shut the fuck up, and don't preach about your family's tax "problems". If you were actually able to vote in this election I would gladly take a little more from your opinion, but no I forgot, you're Canadian... and 17.
