theres gotta be somebody. read on powder mag about a couple feet alreayd on the ground with another 1-2 feet expected. damn class + 14 hour drive = not getting there.
WoW! i knew they got some snow but had no idea it was this much! Welp if they open ill be packing up for a day trip from DC area! Where most yall guys coming from?
lol. stupid east coast resorts. from what i read, snowshoe has yet to even call in any of their employees yet so an opening with this new snow is unlikely. seems like a huge waste and let down their customers to me.
good thing i moved far far away from DC, and am going to keystone this weekend.
they're not opening, so I'm heading to the closer mountain, 7springs, and lapping some off resort runs that you can drive from the top to the bottom of. the resort shuttle even runs on that road so theres no need for a driver or shuttle car...
im in harrisonburg VA which only got some light snow, but i think they got dumped on like 30 minutes from here. I was already debating driving up there and hiking some, but this thread just confirmed it. wish me luck, ill take some pics if its nice
From what I understand Snowshoe is still under a state of emergency issued by the governor. They can't legally call employees to work. Also, their power was out for a while so that was another setback. Nov 21st is their current target for opening day.
Word on power outage...at one point over 80% off my county was Outa power...five days later still over 40% is out. Town is full with power and tree removal workers
