because you're not comparing two completely different skis or anything....
armada el rey is more comparable to the line mastermind.
the step up is a center mounted large jump park slayer... the el rey is more of an all mountain, non symmetrical entry level park ski. i'm not really a fan of either... why not step up to the anthem or chronic or ar7?
Some more information would help. What are you going to be using these for? Mainly park? Mix of park and all mountain? And what kind of park performance are you looking for? Soft and buttery, durable for rails, stiff and stable on big jumps?
Mainly Park, I ski in the midwest so I dont encounter much more than a hill. A few side trips with similar terrain, and one Tahoe trip this year. So im not really looking for all mountain. Im moving away from the afterbangs which i enjoyed just found them a little heavy. Im looking for a ski more for rails rather than jumps. Jumps here at BMBW arent more than 35 - 40 ft.
I actually really hate it when kids say the el rey is an entry level ski. Why would guys as good as Hornbeck ride and entry level ski? It is a pricepoint ski but still a great ski. Got 2 solid years of straight abuse (easily 180 days) and then it took some water ramping(no bubbles) to finally get some edge to pop out. Amazing soft buttery park ski for plenty off ability levels.
because hornbeck doesn't pay for his fucking skis is why he would ride them. bottom line is in fact that the el rey is an entry level ski, it will not last as long as an ar7 or a chronic.... look at line ups across the board from k2, line, armada, and so on, and tell me which ski from each line has cap construction, then tell me which ski from each line is their entry level ski.
k2 press - entry level - cap
line mastermind - entry level - cap
el rey - entry level - cap
rossi sprayer - entry level - cap
Need I continue or do you get my drift? my guesstimate would be that you're light weight, which is why they lasted you as long as they did.
