i too am a strong sceptic of the new home page but Bishop and Schmuck put allot of work into making it so I'm shore it probably has some positives. it will grow on use in no time...

Our numbers showed us that 99% of people were just skipping it and going to the forums. Maybe looking at the latest news article... but hardly anyone was even reading them.

I personally only read an article if it caught my eye on the way from the homepage to the forums

And I'd bet that the same thing is going to happen... except now it could be an article, video, picture or conversation.
Now you don't even have to check if anything else is good... just check that one item and you're good.

My favorite things about NS are forums and videos. Now that there are videos spread out throughout the page im drawn to click on them. watched one or two videos each time i have signed in now.
The spread out design makes it so a can scroll down instead of clicking on numbers to see which article is which.
The biggest problem would be stale content(the same pics and vids stick at the top) but from what i have seen so far it should not be a problem at all
All in all i think its a great update
Mobile is killer now too

Well that is the goal. :) Those who just want one thing, get it. Those who want deeper, have a quicker access to what they're looking for. Those who don't know what they want can see a smattering of everything.
Don't worry about stale. Things will change pretty quickly - and some new algorithm changes we're working on will make it even better.
