ive been hearing alot about salvaged denim and ive been looking into buying a pair of jeans. now what im asking is what were your expireinces with them and if somebody could tell me some good brands to buy from +K for answers
just got into this over the summer, definitely recommend. before dropping a lot of coin on expensive jeans without any experience, get a pair of Levis 501 STFs, max about $45 from their website. then you presoak them (size up 1 or 2 sizes in the waist, 3-4 inches on the inseam since it's unsanforized), wear them without washing them for ~6 months, and then when you finally wash them, you'll have some sick fadez. After that, check on ebay for some cheap selvedge or get some unbranded selvedge (~$80) before you decide to drop a shit ton on more expensive jeans. hope this somewhat helps!
selvedge denim basically comes from the end of the bolt of fabric. a true pair will have the red stripes on the inseam of the leg making it much more valuable
if it doesn't have a color on the edges (usually, but not exclusively red) then it isn't selvedge. selvedge just means that the seam is finished on the end to prevent fraying, and if it isn't finished then it is much more likely to fray. typically, selvedge denim is also much higher quality as well
