Threads now have just as much ability to make it to the homepage as anything else. So make sure to rate up or down any thread you're taking part in.

Yeah - we might need to work on the ratings display, but we tested this a bit at first and up top was the best place.
We'll keep working on it, but as much as you can try to get in that habit of giving a thread a rating.

I've seen this raised before but think a top and bottom rating bar would increase the chance of people rating.

It would be cool to have the rating displayed outside of the thread, like where the responses/views part is, so people could see if it was a huge waste of time before they went in, and also so they would be more actively involved in the idea of thread ratings and therefore be more likely to rate threads.

Malcolm actually drew up a view like this, where on the main thread listing you could do quick up/down voting. Might be a great idea....

My current method has been to vote (+) for things I like, (-) for things I think suck, and not at all for things that I'm indifferent on.
Is this how the system is intended to be used or should I be voting (-) on the things I am indifferent on as well?

it would be better, and people would be more likely to vote if the rate bar was at the top of the thread page, and the bottom. (next to the response button or something)
Problem now is that the rate bar is at the top, high enough that you haven't even seen the thread yet beyond half the op. And it's more of a natural reaction to respond or just click back once you reach the bottom, rather than scrolling back up to rate.

It was easy for us to add the rating to the reply page. Well see if that does the trick. As you're replying to a thread, make sure to give it a vote in either direction.

never mind, i have only been able to use mobile recently and didn't see that there was a rate on the reply page but adding rating on mobile would be nice too.
