it's a good thing the rest of the world is cool with abortion otherwise i'd be to blame for over-population and bad parenting and illegal and unsafe abortions and women dying, and then i would feel real bad for not being able to prove that embryos are people.

See, this is annoying. I do not mind abortions, I think that if a woman doesn't want to have a baby, she should be able to live without having a baby.
But saying your 'pro-life' and getting all high and mighty about upholding life, is bullshit. I uphold the life, I just do not think some cells in a vagina count as a human life. I know it's just terminology, but it's like 'pro-lifers' have jumped to an assumption that you have a moral high ground here when you don't.

Couldn't be more true. Pro lifer's live in a fantasy world (like our friend roody) in which they believe that once abortion is illegal people will stop trying to have abortions. Well in reality ( hold on to your socks kids) people will still try and have them done illegally and unprofessionally which is very dangerous.

Pro lifers don't occupy the moral high ground. They are oppressive of people's freedoms, ignorant, sexist, delusional, naive, and don't look at the big picture.

As in, is it really JUST a clump of cells, as in, yes it is a clump of cells, and so are we technically. That clump of cells just might be a developing human baby. Which is why I don't understand what the point of that guy's argument was.

I agree. The beginning of human life is a controversial subject based largely on religious beliefs. There is no clear answer to when human life begins, so people should be given the right to choose. If you're a christian, don't get an abortion. If you believe that life begins at a different point, you have the right to get an abortion.

The point is, that fetus is not a human, like you and me are. It doesn't have the same rights, no more than a goldfish has a right to life, or sperm does.
Does it have the potential to be a human? Yes. Is it one yet? No.

he wasn't even arguing, he just said that he doesn't consider the clump of cells in a woman's body to be a human. you do. what the hell is your point, seeing as how none of us can prove that embryos are or aren't people because they are embryos and essentially just clumps of cells that we argue over because we will find any excuse to do so.

Human body rejects over 10% of fertalized eggs; why is there no research to save all these lives, seems pretty important to me...
Abortions are as frequent where they are illegal as legal.

luckily it's not the whole world and religious nuts are on the decline. they were rioting in ireland over this last week but that's because the religious people in ireland drink more than religious americans do.

The only issue with this is when the last cut off is for an abortion from a legal standpoint. People can choose when/if to have an abortion, but there needs to be some sort of determining factor for when people can no longer get an abortion or else I could see this going down a slippery slope.

luckily doctors don't perform abortions after a certain point because they aren't insane. if it ever happened i'm sure there would be a law made immediately but it hasn't so it's not considered an issue. there was one woman in america a few years ago who caused a stir when she aborted her child in the third term, something no doctor would ever do. i've also seen some people on this very website complain that babies could be yanked out and strangled to death hours before their birth but seeing as how the only people even capable of imagining such a horrific situation are pro-life i doubt we have anything to worry about.

dammit, this is why I hate arguments about the marriage amendment, or abortion.

laws like this about personal preference, it just isn't anyone's place to tell you what is or is not right.

abortion? women have been giving themselves miscarriages for centuries.

"life begins at conception" is a silly thing - a blastocyst of cells, a true, functioning, decision making life? now, aborting in the later trimesters is pretty nasty i agree, and incredibly sad and distressing,

but i think it's nobody's choice but the woman's and that's the end of it.

okay, then why is there no massive research fund to stop the 10+% of all fertalized eggs that are naturally expelled from the body anyways from people trying to conceive? I would think more people would be concerned with stopping all these unwanted human deaths.. :/

I couldn't find this but didn't look very hard. Even if this is true it's also true that the amount of fertalized eggs that are naturally passed through the body decreases by a large percentage when on birth control compared to the natural functioning of the body. So everyone should be on birth control by pro-lifes goals. And when birth control is free (under Obama) unwanted pregnancy and abortions will go down by a large amount as well.

It just makes sense ya' know?
