Public Speaking

Anyone else have this problem of being a shitty speaker? Just had to do a 4 min speech in front of my class of MAYBE 50 people and I completely blank out and voice gets shaky when I do talk.

What the actual fuck. It pisses me off because I A) Give no fucks about what they think of me and B) Don't care about the grade I receive (Already have an A anyway).

Anyone else have this shitty problem? So annoying when I have no idea what causes it.

I have the same problem, I can't handle it, I stutter and sweat haha. It just freaks me out for some reason. And just like you, I don't give a shit what they think about me hahaha,

i used to have this problem. over time you just gotta say fuck it. but really its just practice. i used to not be able to speak in front of like 20 people but a year ago i gave a speech to around 700 people. just took every opportunity i could where i could speak in front of people and it reallly helped. its worth it too. public speaking is definetly a good skill to have.

i feel like not caring about what the audience thinks is the best way to prevent stage freight. and you have an A, you're fine why are you still scared?
i suck at public speaking because i always think i'll do bad, and then i actually do bad..

I'm actually a pretty competent public speaker. I like to keep my style relatively informal so to me there is little difference between speaking with one person or a large group. I find if you try and memorize a text you're going to mess up; because if you forget or go off track, its relatively hard to get back into your flow. If you just know the material very well and go off the cuff its much easier. You can even have a PowerPoint or cue card with a few points on it to maintain somewhat of a structure.

And in the same vein, when I finish speaking in front of a whole lot of people I always get a rush of adrenaline. Don't know if this happens to anyone else ...?

YEA, i public speak. sometimes it's good, sometimes its not but regardless the adrenaline kicks in halfway through. when you do a good job it feels fantastic.

today i volunteered to say a couple lines for a news broadcast in connecticut as an intro to the CT "Game of the week." it was easy and i nailed it, just like im gonna nail your mom after she sees me on tv.

Public speaking can definitely be intimidating; just do it as much as possible and eventually it will become much easier.
