Binding Help

Looking at buying some bindings for my Opus. I can't decide if I should go with the Jesters or Griffons. I ride at around a 10 DIN and I am 5'8 185 and a 3+ skier. NSer's I could really use the help. +K for the help.

I'm 6'2 and 185 as well, currently i ride with cheap ass maxed look nx11 (give me $$$$ plz <3) but they've been holding up for a while,(haven't used either obvsly) but i would say either one works, but personally im probably getting jester on my next skis. anyways :)

they are both amazing bindings. If you want to pay the extra 200 dollars i would get the jester schizos but the griffons are a really good ski binding not a small price. the griffons are amazingly light and durable! Everyone i know uses them and they all gave me positive results. wasn't much but i hoped it helped :P

considering the griffon now goes up to a 13 DIN, you'll be more in the middle (sweet spot) which is where you want to be, and with them readily available at around $230 you can't really go wrong.

Just to shake things up and sugjuest something diffent, these would work great and cheaer than new griffons.

 i ride my din on 10 - 11, im 6'3' and 170lbs, honestly will probly only buy fks 18s in the future or something in that range/quality

I am in this exact situation. Just got some fks 18s. Best decision ever. Also I was talking to the rossignol rep and asked him how long they should last, he said around 5 years. So that's a mega plus.

Thanks everyone (so far) I am just not sure if going with the Jester and being more towards the bottom of its range is better than getting the Griffon and being more towards the top of it's range. Ideas?

I've never had the jester. But I've used the griffon at the top of its range for a season and i had plenty of problems. I'm sure a lot of those would be resolved with the jesters though.

At 185lb the Jester is almost a no-brainer over the Griffon. DIN isn't all that comes into it... you put a lot of forces on a binding in directions that don't make it release and you'll want metal bits instead of the Griffon's plastic.

At the same time, I weigh about the same as you and I broke a few pairs of Jesters (toepiece pylon) before I gave up and went to FKS. Never looked back. Consider the Axial2 mentioned above, or a Look PX15 with the full-drive toe.

I got the griffons and im happy with them. i ride a 6 din for now, im pretty sure they go up to 13 so youre in the range. they look pretty sick

I'd steer you towards something like the Pivot or FKS 14's. When I worked in the repair shop at my home mountain the griffons came in with broken heel pieces all the time. I think we saw 10-15 pairs in one season with broken heel pieces. Two senior citizens managed to snap the heel pieces right off the skis. It was pretty amazing how weak those bindings actually were. We also saw a lot of the griffins pre-releasing. People would just turn right out of them. They tested out fine every time but they didn't seem to work well on the hill. The squires move around a lot. All in all I think they're a crap product and I won't set foot on anything from the royal family. The Duke and the Jester both seem to be a much nicer binding than the griffon though. Haven't seen too many issues with those. Look/Rossi seem to make a much more reliable, predictable, and durable product for the money. From my experience anyways. I know a lot of people love Markers. But I still don't trust them.

You will be fine with the griffons on 10 as their range go up to 13 so that should be good, just don't crank it up their from something like 5 straight away, turn it up 1 each day so that you won't pre-release and have other problems,

The griffons are a really high quality binding and you will be happy with them, I have never had a problem and they get you a lot for their price which is around $150 cheaper.
