Well as it stands now, you shouldn't be.
It MIGHT drop snow, but it'll bring inches and inches of rain and hurricane winds, which will FUCK SHIT UP. We could be talking something far more destructive than Irene, because it has the potential to flood AND take out power with heavy winds, ice and snow.
So yeah, I'm certainly going to be ready for the snow part with my touring gear should that pan out, but you're kidding yourself if you think this is just going to be a cool snowstorm and shit's gonna be fine. I'd be getting my shit together if I were you. You may be without power andheat for several days depending on how things turn out.
Yes, this. Plus a massive increase of runoff added to all that water could spell trouble for the coast.
It's pretty much every factor ever involved, and the potential to add up to a pretty bad situation is looking pretty strong. Fuckin' pissed my chainsaw is in VT, I have a feeling I might need it soon.
It certainly can't hurt to take a few steps in preparation, especially considering the bullshit that went down during last year's October storm. If things come together, this storm looks to me far more destructive on many levels that weren't present in last year's event.
Trying to figure out a way to get my saw down here right now... When big shit is brewing, I feel naked without it after that whole tornado in my yard thing.
Mmmmmmmmmm... Chocolate milk rivers.
