Italian inventor Andreas Rossi has teamed up with one of the most respected scientists in the Nickel-Hydrogen field, Professor Emeritus Sergio Focardi of the Bologna University, to make a purported reactor that will produce an electrical energy output 6 times larger than the input. If this comes to be true, then fossil fuels will become a thing of a past and clean, reliable energy will be available.
I have no understanding of how the process works, other than with some "magical" catalyst that causes hydrogen to combine with nickel, surpassing the Coulomb barrier, to make copper.
I am very skeptical of their claims. However, on the website (link below) there is a Q&A section where you can ask questions that can be answered by Andreas Rossi himself.
The current, 1MW units sell for 1.5 million each, but could be used to heat an entire building for 20-30 years.
Many chemists and physicists argue, however that the process seemingly "doesn't agree with generally accepted laws of physics".
I for one think this could be an incredible discovery, but to think scientifically you must doubt until evidence is proven. Think of how amazing the world would be if we did not depend on fossil fuels.
