a bunch of news sites are talking about the possibility of getting CRUSHED by a hurricane in about 5-7 days. For the higher elevations, this could mean a shitload of snow. all aboard the hype train.

YES! Just read up on this and I am so pumped. Hopefully we'll get lucky like last year and get a bunch of snow. SR got a foot of snow before Halloween last year and it really helped them to open up early.

at 14 second period with waves that big, its unsurfable unless youre at a point. when the period is that long its gonna be a big long closeout, and not rideable until it cools down a bit. whatever, ill take OH leftovers any day.

Seriously. 

How people are excited for this, I'll never know.  Even if we do get something useable out of it like some snow, your likelihood of getting somewhere to utillize it are not good if this really happens.  See Irene last fall.  Most likely if this pans out, there is going to be a huuuuuge mess, lots of power out, and lots of people freaking out.  Not good.

at least we are better prepared than in '91, which sounded like there were not proper warnings issued until very close to the storm's arrival.

nahh pretty sure Irene gave us some dece waves last year, pumped to pick up the leftovers of sandy, if the forecasts are correct itll be big as fuck by the time it hits the northeast

Probably. The full moon is soon too, tides are gonna be real high. People always get so stoked when a big storm shows up, but then show up at the beach and find massive closeouts that are gonna just throw you over the falls crush you. Gotta go before or after the storm 'hitting' your break, at least in my experience.

I went out a few days before Irene hit, it sucked. Water was like -1894834 degrees, I had no suit, the waves were just huge swells until right near shore, where they closed out. I got on two briefly, and you could feel the power in them. Maybe after was better
