Fellas Im looking into to booking a trip to BC this coming jan. Still doing some research as I don't know too much about the place. What resorts would you recommend, that have everything (park, pow etc)?? Whistler is on the list so far.
there is a place called Panorama that has a dope park and pow. Went there not expecting much from such a small resort, but they have some of the sickest powder lines i have skied up in the alpine.
so far the responses in this thread have been very shitty.
Revy doesn't have a park, pano doesn't really get pow, kicking horse, fernie, and whitewater have parks, but they are very small and horrible. All have excellent terrain. (maybe not so much Pano - never been there though)
Red has an ok park, can have good pow if your lucky, excellent terrain but hard to get to though.
Whistler is your best bet for a good park and pow - it's very busy and expensive though.
If you don't mind mellow terrain in exchange for a good park, Silver Star, Big White, and Sun Peaks are options, but they lack the real mountain feel.
BC has two kinds of mountains, big awesome terrain with shitty to no parks, or Sweet good sized parks with shitty to no terrain.
heres what I think you should do
Drive up to Fernie, ski there for a day and a half. Its sick and theres tonnes of good shred style skiing. Perfect first day to the road trip and a warm up. Then Drive 3 hours in morning and ski golden for a day till about 230 or 3, then either spend the night and ski another day if you like it or drive another 2 hours to revelstoke. Revelstoke is AMAZING. If you like skiing not park, its the shit. If you watched art of flight, thats exactly what its like there. Spend like 3 to four days there and go chill at the pool after skiing to meet some rad fucking people. Theyr all super friendly and if you are too chances are they will show you around. Then once youre over revy, spend a full day of driving/ waiting for ferrys. This will be a good rest day after getting your ass kicked in revelstoke. Goto either Nelson and ski White water, or goto Rossland and ski Red. Red is soooo sick. super small old hill with the coolest steepest cliffyest terrain in BC. Id say goto Rossland (personnally)
Then thats about it. Spend like a week and a half to 2 weeks up here and dont bother looking for mountains with parks, go enjoy what BC is famous for. Badass tree/pillow/pow skiing. and come in January or March.
This road trip work out really well, its a perfect loop and gets all the best kootenay resorts.
Sorry if you guys think I left out somewhere sick!
exactly what dylan said. Revy, Red, Whitewater, Kicking Horse, Fernie. If you really want to experience the true interior feel, you have to check these places out. Everyone is super friendly, loves skiing, and will gladly show you around. Just watch out for the hippies in nelson.... haha
