Do you think skiing looks sloppy?

Do you ever think skiing looks sloppy with the poles and such? Coming from snowboarding, I think skiing looks better l, but sometimes I think it looks wierd with the poles.

It doesn't looks sloppy if you have good technique.  In the air it looks better than snowboarding IMO, better grabs, spins look more complex and more variation.  The one thing I haven't seen out of skiing yet is a super steezy layout or casual air.  Kinda like a whip in motocross.  No spins, just a huge shifty or something like that that looks pimp.  Would love to see some of that action.

poles are there to make you a better skier, and when youre a better skier you look less sloppy

Depends on the skier. Anyone can make skiing look sloppy, poles or not.

Does this look sloppy to you?


I've noticed a trend too, people who ski/skied without poles tend to have good balance/style. Wallisch used to not use poles frequently from what I remember.

True dat.  It just doesn't give me the "fuck yeah!" that a big whip on a bike does.  Pretty close though.

no im not saying that anything more than a 7 cant be stylish, Torins 1800 is smooth as hell im just saying i prefer stylish smaller spins as opossed to the spin it to win it wth no style

All due respect, yes you can.  Its about style.  A big ole' method by a snowboarder is comparable, a big shifty 1 on skis is comparable.  you can see plenty of comparisons mentioned in this thread.  Slower/smaller spins, a sick, floaty air, thats what I'm talking about.  Double flips, 2+ spins, they're all tech and hard, but, just like superman seatgrabs, back flip heel clicks, etc, they're not as sick as a big, tweaked out whip, IMO.  I'd rather watch something slow, smooth and steezy than a bunch of rotations.  But this argument has been heard before....

Im going to flip this arguement and say i think snowboarders look really flappy and uncontrolled when hitting big steep lines. Maybe ive not seen the right rider for it but the skiers that hit that suff seem far more in control and composed.

^ agreed, snowboarding style is so wack, nothing really looks steezy for them except a massive method which does look dope. other than that, its flappy IMO.

I'm sorry but i'm so not down with one footer stuff, just looks silly and reminds me of ssx tricky and the stupidness of the tricks in that game. and I'm in the hornbeck(?)- wallisch situation, I have no idea what's sick.so couldnt tell you if it looked clean or styley, but thats the conditioning of watching a snowboard edit every blue moon and only ever really watching skiing.
