Hello everyone, i'll try to keep this quick.
I got the OK today from my professor that I'll be allowed to do a video project rather than a research paper for my final project.
Basically, a final research paper would have to be around 20+ pages, whereas the video project is about 5 pages + a 12 minute or so video.
I'm a communications major, so the types of things we study include journalism, advertising research, how different social groups are portrayed in media, film, etc. etc. Really a whole variety of things.
What I'm getting at here is that I would like to do something skiing related for the final video. I just think it would be the most enjoyable. Plus, I am actually interested in movie making, I'm not just doing this because I think it would be easier or something.
The basic format I was thinking would be documentary style, although it's open to a lot of things. You can recreate a horror movie scene for instance, tell a nonfiction story, etc. The key here is that there has to be some type of research involved, aka this project has to have academic merit.
What are some ideas I could do? So far the best I can come up with is basically studying how skiers come across on NS vs. how they do in person, or something like that. Or how skiers act on the mountain and in their social groups, compared to interacting with everyday people who don't ski. Idk, it's not really that good, that's why I'm coming here.
Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.
