Please help: Speedgrade export issues

Hey guys -

I know that the whole speedgrade workflow is sorta new, and I'm not sure how many of you use it. I'm having an issue though - when I export, it brightens up all my clips. I've got it graded out proper, looking at scopes and histograms. But then the exported video appears about a half stop brighter, and at times much more washed out. It also adds a lot of grain in the shadows.


So, what are your export settings? Does your playback in the program look like your finalized exported clip?

When I export mine it changes the clips around and adds clips from different projects, really wack.

I haven't even opened the program since my first horrible experiences with it. I would check the export settings (if that's possible). Maybe there is a gamma curve shift happening somewhere on export?

Assuming you are exporting to Quicktime, this looks like the fix: activate "automatic color calibration" during your render to counteract the shift.

I think speedgrade is incredible, this is the only thing that bothers me about it.

I also wish that you were able to go back to the timeline, change it up and keep the grade timeline intact. Seems like you should be able to go roundtrip like Audition. But if you are comfortable with it being the last step in your workflow, it works great.

I wish I could help, I love speedgrade. I dont know why it has such a bad rep but It is an incredible piece of software

I wish I could even import files to speed grade, clips just show as a black screen.

I had this problem at first but you have to click the clip in the timeline and it has to be highlited then go to the "looks" panel

Thanks a lot man, still having problems with the workspace, can't see the full look panel without having to scroll, and I can't figure out how to move panels, hiding the ...settings/looks panel would be good too.

One of the stupidest parts of the software is that the format basically makes it impossible to use on a small screen. I don't think you can hide the settings/looks panel.

there's a lot of things missing, and it's NOT a very intuitive piece of software. It definitely has flaws, but you can do great things with it and it's pretty impressive for a first iteration.
