They really aren't comparable. Sunny was a nice mix of most genres of freeskiing, where as The Eighty Six was predominantly urban. It's all going to come down to personal preference.
Regardless, both were outstanding movies and I have been watching them over and over again.
Both were amazing. The cinematography of the 86 was insane but I think sunny had better overall riding. It's really hard to say which one was better because I have watched both countless times.
sunny, more variety in urban features and not 80% tranny finds. Also there trips to japan and turkey were really interesting and park shoots were creative and entertaining.
After watching sunny quite a few times there were wayyy more WTF moments than in eighty six. I was wayyy more blown away by Sunny than the eighty six. But the eighty six was still filmed and edited just as well if not better than sunny
Like most people have said they are hard to compare but right now if i could sit down and watch one, I think I would choose the 86. I really liked sunny but im not the biggest fan of watching back country stuff... i know shoot me but i would rather watch urban or park skiing than bc stuff, maybe because Im from minnesota and our 'deep pow" is 4 inches of snow
basically what he said hahah. But I bought both a few days ago on Itunes and I just enjoy the creativity in The Eighty Six alot more. Wild shots, even crazier urban just hands down mind blowing in my opinion.
this. I liked the 86 better though, but just because I like watching urban segments the most. They had some cool story lines in the movie too. The fact that they were constantly breaking the law throughout the whole movie had it's own entertainment value. Then the cops' reactions were priceless.
Comparing Level 1 to Stept is like comparing Ass to Tits. They're both great to look at, and they never get old. Some people prefer one over the other, but when it comes down to straight out comparing them, asking which is better, it can't be done.
Both movies are incredible, but I personally like Sunny more because it has all types of freeskiing, but the spots, filming/editing were so sick in Eighty Six.
i love all stept movies and i thought the 86 was amazing, however there was a little bit too much filler (not hating but compared to the other movies that was a small set back). now with that being said I think sunny was the greatest ski movie i have ever seen
Both movies were amazing in there own ways. I loved watching Sunny and seeing the whole Level 1 crew shredding around the globe, not to mention how awesome Pollards segment was. The 86 Had some of the gnarliest urban I've ever seen and they're light years ahead of where they were on the cinematography front. I loved watching and rewatching both movies to be honest...
Level 1 cause they had a better mix of urban, park, pow more diverse riders with better style. 86 was great but it was like 90% urban tranny shots. Sorry but if 90% of your movie is tranny shots, it just gets kind of old.
i personally liked Sunny much more. I liked the filming, editing, and skiing better. I actually was kind of disappointed in the 86. This may sound weird, but I almost had the feeling that the music didn't match up with the style of the movie. Being urban, I thought it would be a lot of kinda hardcore gangster rap. Having it be the music it was kind of kept me uninterested and almost put me to sleep. Im not saying that the 86 was a bad movie, cause it was good, as weird as it sounds Im just saying that i was disappointed in it because of the music. Everyone in both movies killed it though!
