This is a pretty exciting upgrade. The 4k as of yet will need a little more time, but its only 9Fps off being useable, which will be huge.
The 2.7K will be so usefull though. imagine how much reframing you could do, how much you could stabalise the footage and still have a crisp 1080 output. It will ertainly open up alot of possibilites to those who already use a larger image workflow.
People here also seem to be forgetting Go Pro is being used loads in TV and Film. So upping the frame size is majour for these consumers. I sold a Hero 2 to the DOP of Pirates 4, and he said they were using them loads for action where you just cant get large film camera. But being restricted to 1080 was the main issue. Most films now are shot at 4k, so it makes sense for Go Pro to start working towards making 4k standard on the cameras.
Now if they could get HDR images, they really would be taking over.
