Meh, the 26.2 one I understand....but the half marathon was just invented for people who were too afraid to commit to the full. I would be embarrassed putting that sticker on my car.

In the same category, getting an Ironman tattoo for doing a half-iron is stupid. That's like getting 2.5 Olympic rings tattooed on just because you made it to Olympic trials.

Disagree. Marathons are fucking stupid. You're essentially breaking down your body just to say that you ran a long(er) distance than someone else. Half marathons are fun without being miserable, require less rigorous training, and are still a decent accomplishment. It's certainly not an embarrassment, just as doing a sprint tri is not an embarrassment. I'm sure that many people who run half marathons could run the full, and I know many people that have done both and prefer the half simply because when you finish you're not totally destroyed for 2 days and can have fun and celebrate after finishing.

Most people don't know what saga and NS are.
Putting a sticker on your car to claim about your distance running ability just seems wacky to me. Should I get a sticker with my 40 time on it to claim to the all the other drivers. If you want to claim your running ability to the world then take a run instead of driving your SUV around.

I could run a marathon right now easy. I am more of a runner than a skiier however so maybe I dont like it cause I look at it in a competetive way. But what you guys are saying about NS stickers and Saga stickers is indeed true. Be proud of what you want

Ok I know this probably sounds fryer as fuck but..

The first time I saw those sticker I was tripping my brains off on a half a 10 strip that me and my best friend split. It was like 5 in the morning and we tried to move his car from the freak ass dudes driveway into the road and it seemed impossible but we got it done. We parked behind a car that had the same fucking sticker 13.1, 26.2. We stared at the shit for like 2 hours wondering what the fuck it meant and waiting for our friend that was trapped in the crazy peoples house to come out after he broke up with his devil girlfriend. It was a fucked up situation, and those numbers will never be the same to me.

P.S. I didn't know what those numbers meant at the time either, so it made it even worse.

just ran a marathon 2 weeks ago. it was the hardest thing I have ever done. And ill probably get a sticker now just to piss people like you off. why would you care if someone has that sticker on their car anyways?

My dad is dating an ultra marathoner, she just did her 5th 100 mile of the year last week. Now it makes me look at people who run half marathons and full marathons like they're gigantic pussies, but if I run more than three miles I feel like I might die.

I used to rock a 26.2 bumper sticker and a 2,175 bumper sticker. I thought they paired well together. Now I have a very small 26.2 patch on my back dash. I think the mileage stickers are much nicer than all the oval stickers that people have of every place they have been, and every small town they have visited. Mileage is understated and classy, in my opinion.

It doesn't bother me that people put that shit on their cars. I just think less of them for doing so. The 26.2 is kind of legit, but the 13.1 is a fucking joke for reasons previously stated. If skiers put stickers on their car that said 360 or 1080 for how many spins they can do people would call that wack ass claim out too.

26.2 is way more legit than a 13.1 sticker. a marathon takes months to train for, and is a serious achievement. don't be pissed because you haven't done shit with your life

fuck all y'all for saying that running a marathon is not an achievement. I am a hardcore biker/runner and I have a ton of respect for people that can run over 26 miles, or essentially be running for... 3ish hours, no stopping.

they should deserve to show something they're proud of. I want to run a marathon someday, when I have the time to train that much. It's dedication. and damn it it's one of the hardest things to do.

why hate? Say you go to someone's house and they have a few trophies, like winning a championship or something. You don't just say "fuck you, nobody cares" (well maybe not). I, personally - and I know many newschoolers do too - like have something to show my achievements.

A trophy is in your house, not on the back of your car. Bragging about your achievements devalues them by the principle of claiming. Another thing is that I see that sticker everywhere. I get that they ran a long ways every day for a few months and ate well so they could do it, but it isn't that impressive.
I'll start another thread in a few days for other stickers that I think are stupid like those red white and blue O's, what the fuck is that bullshit?

dub i know but a sticker I know nothing about are those blue and yellow equals sign ones. I thought it was a U2 sticker at first (no line on the horizon logo kinda) but I searched and couldn't find it. Any answers?

and btw I meant I've never seen a 13.1/26.2 sticker, if it looked weird up there
