BUT, TGR needs to break out of this documentary mode that they have been descending into and they need to cater more towards what the people want. First off, I've never been to AK to heli ski and neither have most people in the ski industry so what the hell can we relate to? Secondly, the powder skiing (like in every other TGR movie since the beginning of time) is OVERKILL. Music was decent, but the urban segment stuck out like a sore thumb just because it was so awkwardly situated in the context of a big mountain/powder flick.
Keep in mind that this is coming from a huge TGR supporter since Tangerine Dream. The dream was the movie that initially even got me into skiing and ski movies and I love what TGR is all about, but shit guys, get back toward the ski porn end of things, at least just a little bit. Making a movie with that type of plot was quite the limb for them to go out on, and I think that it didn't really go the way that they were hoping.
One more thing, closing segment with Dash Longe wasn't even anything spectacular. Closing shot is him doing a 7 off of a semi-large cliff? That's like stock floor footage in a lot of movies in today's day and age.
Durtschi's opening shots were pretty sweet though.
End rant.
I'd like to know what you guys think...
