Why cant I upload pictures?

When I choose a picture it says the file is too big and all my pics. How can I get around this

Try reducing the size of the files before uploading. Max file size is 5mb

They are all more than 5. I don't know how to make them smaller though

Could you please verify the format and average file size?  It may actually be time we increase the 5MB limit on pictures.  I want to make sure we increase the limit enough for you to upload properly.

I heard a rumor that Paul upped the size to 50mb.

awesome. very helpful since most cameras shoot pictures over 5 mb now.


out of curiosity, how much space do the servers have? and how much space is the entire site (including vids + pics etc) currently using?

Lots is the best answer I have. Only paul can answer that really.

We actually shifted the site to a more dynamic setup though, one which is built to scale and also uses the SAN (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storage_area_network) of the company that owns Newschoolers.

So whatever is stored there, we can always keep adding more to it... same with server horsepower we can expand as we need more.

The web servers each have 1TB of space which is used mostly as an image cache and to hold thumbnails.

Our parent company (GrindTV.com) provides us access to a 30TB SAN which holds all our original media. We hold about 600,000 pictures and videos in total.

2.9 TB of uploaded videos
1.1 TB of encoded videos for streaming
2.4 GB in video screenshots
272G in images
