Struggling with setting an icon

Every time I set an image as my icon, it shows up until I click 'return to settings'. The picture I want to set as my icon is 50x44 pixels and is 6.44 kb, so I really don't know why this is happening. Thoughts?

photoshop > image(canvas) size > save as
proper dimensions this time

pretty sure it has to be 50X50 still

also, site discussion. mods will probably move this there eventually
