I just got back from Iraq

i jsut got back from serving in the Marine Corp in Iraq. it really pisses me off to see all you assholes degrating our efforts so you have the freedom to talk shit on Bush. Bush is the man. i dont know one Marine who is going to vote for Kerry. Thank God we have someone man enough in office with enough balls to do what it takes to keep this country safe. even with so many dumbasses telling him he's wrong. Enjoy your freedom that so many of my close friends have died for.

im all for the soldiers fighting for us and protecting but the point of the matter is over 1200 soldiers have died and that should have NOT happend. a different approach was needed and we should have not gone to war so quickly.

thats the issue man, noone is against you or any other person fighting for our freedom but what are we fighting for now?

what are we going to be fighting for the rest of our lives?

we can ever go back to normal and bush is the instigator. thats why hes hated, not you guys.

so if you feel it was in fact a decent choice to kill 1000's just to get 1 dude then amen more power to ya, but i just feel thats wrong.

to throw your people, american, into a battle that is not needed and for that many to die in that act and to screw our chances of ever stopping is wrong.

i love the people fighting i just dont like the decision in the first place.

If you'd like to know why you're an utter moron and not even worth the time to start an argument with... this is why. We're FOR the troops here. We're outraged that people had to die, because we feel the reasons for the war do not justify those deaths. That's actually really easy to understand, if you aren't a total idiot. The jury's still out on that one, though.

No war is fought perfect. You can never be sure what the outcome of any move will be. Bush did what he thought was best for the country and i dont expect everyone to agree. the fact of the matter is the middle east is a haven for terrorist. i know. the bastards were shooting at me every day. JD how can you argue with the man? He says he feels 'degraded' by people like you even though you claim to be for the troops. Well its coming straight from a soldier's mouth that he feels degraded, and I am sure he is not the only one.

Scientific and unscientific polls conducted in Iraq have all shown that approximately 70% of soldiers support Bush will approximately 13-18% support Kerry, while the rest I would assume are likely undecided. That should be a statement alone right there. Go to google and type in milblogs and you will find many amazing stories about troops experiences and how they are more than proud to be serving in Iraq. Yes there are dissenters, which is just, but Americans are not being given the full story.

Do you truly think the overwhelming majority of troops in Iraq would be supporting Bush if they thought this was a mistake?

you know what? Your efforts never will go without our appreciation. But honestly as a Canadian, I really, really dont want to see Bush get re-elected. Its a good majority, I think, of Canadians that feel the same way. He made some poor judgements and it is costing him in the end. I believed this before i saw fairenheit 9/11, and I believe it even more after seeing it. Bush needs to go, he fucked up too many times and has to leave with his tail quietly between his legs. America needs a change.

exactly, saying your against a war is tatamount to not supporting those who fight it. Look at Vietnam, soldgiers were spit on upon returning home, and looked down upon. Its not like any soldgier decided to go fight for another country and lay his life down for us.

I firmly believe that even if Iraq has been a problematic war, that Bush went in with the best of intentions to keep the US safe from terrorists in the US and abroad. I just feel safer with Bush as our president, and I will vote my feelings on the 2nd

Graves, you're willing to use that statistic, but when hundreds of Nobel prize winners, political theorists, scientists, MENSA directors, some of the most intelligent people on this planet, sign a petition stating that they oppose the war and they are opposed to the reelection of President Bush, your side discounts it. A little hypocritical, aren't we? Because if a troop statement says something, then so should the impressions of all the bright people on this planet. Certainly the troops are a selective sample... what kind of person joins the military? Probably someone who would agree with bush's policy. They'd also be less than likely to come out and say 'Well, we're here, andmy buddies have sacrificed to achieve what we have... but it was really a waste of time.' I just can't see that happening too often.
As for what you said earlier, I can argue with him not on the point that he feels degraded, but on the point that he shouldn't feel that way, because he's misinterpreted the anti-war position in the most basic way imaginable, as I said above. We're not against the troops, we're for the troops.

i find it funny that the majority of the people on this site that are extremely anti-bush are canadian. No one cares what you think about our president. Go worry about yourselves, and stop trying to pretend like you know whats going on in america. I think the fact that the vast majority of the troops( who happen to be mostly low income, and would typically vote for kerry) are voting for bush. That should say something.

first of all, anyone who gets there info from Michael Moore is a dumb ass. i'm not saying Bush is perfect but at least he stands up for what he believes is right. and there has been a lot of good come out of this war. Afganastan just had there first election. the first voter was a 19 year old female. someone who couldn't even go outside with out her husband or else be arrested. tell the millions of people in Iraq that can listen to music for the first time or play sports for the first time that nothing good has come out of this war

I'm sorry, but I'm not about to deify the troops. That, too, is diffeerent from supporting their interests. There are some extremely stupid people in the army (case in point...) just as there are anywhere else. When i say I support the troops, I mean that I believe this administration has done them wrong by putting them in harm's way, and I'm outraged that these people have had to sacrifice life and limb for goals that are not, in my opinion, worth the loss of such people. I don't think the troops are letting anyone down. They're doing a great job. I think the admin has let the TROOPS down.

I can see it happening. Look at all the soldier's that spoke out against 'Nam. Of course that was a Democrat's war so no big deal...right?

Again the troops are experiencing it, not you. If they thought their friend died for an unjust reason I can guarantee that would speak up. Soldiers have balls.

im not saying anything about afganistan...i think that was quite a large success in the war on terror...but as many have said...invading iraq as a means to winning the war on terror just doesnt make a lot of sence...ps...my best friend from highschool is in iraq right now...i talked to im today on aim...i hope he, and every other troop makes it home saftly...but i still think that the current administration i wrong for what it has done

that is the issue. the media makes it sound like this is just a war on Iraq. it's not. Iraq is a terrorist hotbed. thats why there is so much resistence there. the Iraqi people arent fighting us. they want us there. Sadam was one of the largest financial supporters of terrorism in the world.

Bush has a clear focus for the next 4 years, John Kerry seems to have about as much direction as a 5 year old..cant decide WHAT he wants to do

It comes down to this..I personally wish I had what it takes to serve in the armed forces, but I know I dont. So my respect goes to anyone who can commit themselves to protect myself and everyone here in the States that doesnt serve. It takes a certian type of person to go out and risk his life to protect people they will never meet in life, and for that reason alone, Ill support every person stationed in Iraq or anywhere around the world that fights for my protection/liberties

Wow, what is the matter with you? I didn't sya soldiers' opinions are to be immediately discounted because they're not MENSA members. I'm saying that it's hypocritical to discount one quasi-special interest group's position while treating another as a firm pillar of support for one side. It's inherently hypocritical. The troops have just as many personal reasons to accept their position as do scientists and theorists. Why only discount one, as your side has done? As for Vietnam vets, those who opposed the war were a minority, just as they are today. I'm explaining to you that 70% is not at all a surprising figure given the source. Not ALL troops are, of course, going to be of the same opinion, but the vast majority will. That only makes sense.

i support the troops and all but why would you die for a unjust cause? iraq never attacked us nor had wmd's we attacked a soverign nation for no reason... was he a bad guy? yeah of course but it was the wrong war at the wrong time... somehow iran now is getting wmd's and we arent doing anything about it same with n.korea.. i totally respect the fact that you are in the marines and i also respect the fact that you served our country in iraq... i just think that you and your buddies shouldnt get killed for no reason... and that is what is happening... bush made the mistake to go into iraq when he should have concentrated on geting bin laden.
I for one hate micheal moore and think he stretches facts to the point were they are false.. this is all from newspapers and magazines that are reporting the war... I think that for you to vote for bush is shooting yourself in the foot as this man will send you back there to fight again do you want to ? i think that kerry in many respects isnt great but he has a better plan on many issues.... outsourcing has also probably affected you although i wouldnt know but would you vote for a guy that is giving incentives to companies to move out to china and india and even the middle east in some cases??

^ i agree with JD on that one. it's not like anyone is saying 'well, i don't like the armed forces blah blah blah'. it's been stated many times that almost everyone is pro-armed forces. but the difference is in the policy. as someone above said, i can accept that bush thought that going into iraq was the best course of action, even i don't personally believe it as such. i personally don't think that it was justified to go into iraq so fast, but that's a moot point. the key here is the bush dropped the ball. there is no exit strategy! this is where i think the administration has let the troops down, by not being able to end it.

there is an exit stratagy. i was involved for a while in training Iraqi soldiers to take over the fight in Iraq. in fact thats why a got to come home. a new Iraqi troop took over our post

Ok, i think we can all agree on something. Thank God we live in a country where we can all have our own opinions without being persecuted. and may i add, thanks to Bush so do millions of people in Iraq

JD, are you referring to soldiers as a special interest group? I hate it when people talk about our soldiers as nothing more than a voting block, not that you would do such a thing.
