i'm sorry, i just can't watch a 10 minute video on how to theoretically turn a sphere inside out, but thanks for giving the kick in the pants to go get breakfast.
I'm AP physics right now in high school, and I love this stuff! So sick, just kinda gay that they didn't actually show in slow motion the change of the sphere
I'm not sure what you mean by "the point". Do you mean what can you apply this to? Crazy abstract concepts in math often end up having applications. I don't know about this one in particular.
I was one of the people who said "what the hell is the point" about the math I was learning in high school. Turns out in high school and university they teach you pretty much straight applied math, and all of that stuff is extremely applicable to many subjects. So I will never again say "what's the point" when it comes to math concepts haha.
Plus figuring out a math problem is a point in itself.
By "the point", I meant why would you need to turn a sphere, that is made of material that can go through itself but not handle sharp turns, inside out. How do you even get to a point were that is a problem?
I guess what I'm saying, is that I don't understand how someone thought of that, and why they thought of it in the first place.
maybe there will be an application for it in the future. just because you dont see the point of it now doesnt mean there never will be. also, maybe the theory could apply to something different that would be useful. it seems unlikely, but theres no point in ruling anything out at this point in time.
Oddly enough this is a repost i watched both parts on NS a while back. To this day I still regret losing those twenty minutes to this video and not watching internet porn or staring blankly at a white wall.
