ISO 12800 same as 6400 in video mode? 550d magic lantern, and urban filming questions

I've been trying out shooting in the street when it's dark, seeing how well I can get it to work and it's pretty impressive, a lot better than I can see with my eyes, albeit that's only at 1/24th. So I was trying to get the iso from 6400 to 12800 using the magic lantern exposure override thing and It doesn't seem to make any difference for some reason, I was wondering if there was any fix to this or if it's a known problem.

And secondly when shooting urban(or at night in general I guess) does anyone manage to shoot at 60fps? without using lights, it'd just be street lights really, do you just set the shutter to whatever your frame rate is? or do you manage to have it a bit faster?

It's not like a hack can suddenly change the hardware in the camera to perform at ridiculous specs. The t2i (and 60d/7d/t3i i believe) cannot process and handle 12800ISO in video mode because of the sensor/processor.

A whole lot of wut in here.

Dont shoot at 6400, bad idea.

Shutter needs to be at least double your frame rate ie 24fps 48 shutter.

oh, I just figured it might be able to handle it because it can do 12800 for photos, what's the point in ml having it then?

@DTF Yeah I'd prefer not to but if it's the only way it makes it possible to see then what's the alternative haha, would double the shutter always be a necessity? what if it too makes it impossible to see?

yeah, it doesnt shoot 24 photos/second at 12800 though

Yeah I know, I just wasn't sure if it could or not, and it'd be 24*2mp pictures a second vs the 3.4*18mp pictures a second that the photos do, so you can see how I figured it might.

I highly doubt these shots look as good as you think... 6400 iso is so noising on the t2i. I can shoot 6400-8000 iso with my fs100 and its clean and its the ONLY camera thats sub 5k that can do that. you really think 12800 is going to look good?

And shooting urban without lights is stupid, I know that you want to because getting lights and a geni isnt cheap, but if you actually want to shoot urban, you need lights.

Thanks, I figured as much, 6400 is really quite bad, but it's usable for my needs, I could probably drop it a bit seeing as the test I did wasn't near any street lights as I couldn't be bothered going outside so I just did it through my window, and the places we're planning on hitting is lit pretty near by street lights, although they're the annoying yellow kind.

The lights isn't really the problem, I could whack together a couple small floodlights, it's the generator that's the problem, seeing as ones on ebay are usually about 100$, and I don't know anyone that has one that I could borrow, it's not worth me paying $100 for one when we only get a couple of snow days a year, we might not even get enough for building an urban lip and inrun, so it's an annoying risk. I might have a look on craiglist or freecycle or something to see if I get lucky with some old thing, but I doubt it.

Hows that 1000 lines of resolution treating you? the 1080p60? How about the waveform, histograms, xlr ports, picture profiles, universal emount, usable AF, avchd 2.0 treating you? oh wait... lol

I don't see whats wrong with it. Most people on here have a computer with enough power, it includes 1080/60p, and from what I have heard almost everyone transcodes/rewraps etc to get to prores. Also its more efficient compression. Not trying to hate, but what don't you like about it?

Contrary to what DTF said, it's fine to go below double if it's the only option you have to properly expose your image.

Ideally it's best for it to be at least double, but you can go below
