Little Switz vs Sunburst

So most of you probably remember little Switz which closed down a few years back and also know that it will be reopened this year. The site http://littleswitz.com/#ytplayer makes improvements looks great. This place is right by Sunburst who made their own improvement in the park with new snowmaking and a 2nd tow rope. Kyle and the crew have built up a great park at Sunburst. I always had a sunburst pass since thats where my friends went and now I ski the great Keystone. I will be skiing Wisco over my winter break and thought I would see whos planning on going where. Id like to see the two become competitive and push eachother. Sunburst has improved greatly in a bad economy with no competition but can little switz push them even more?

Anyone know anything about Little Switz park?
Anyone working for little switz?
Anyone used to ski lil switz?

I have a sunburst pass for this season, but ill prob check out little switz just to see how different it is. The improvements sound pretty cool and thatd be great if it pushes burst to do even more

I skied there once year's ago at the end of the season. Was so much fun but then I moved to Colorado and when I came back they had closed.

Little Switz is owned by the same people that own Nordic Mountain (Wild Rose, WI) & Blackjack (Bessemer, MI). I worked at Blackjack for 3 years when i was going to school at Gogebic Community College for Ski Area Management Loved the place and from what I have heared since these guys bought the place and reopened it has been nothing but great.

So I would expect nothing but good things from Little Switz. Give it time can't be great right from the start. It takes baby steps. Everyone has there idea of what a good park is.

i rode sunburst last year and it was one of the funniest days i had riding last year, but will definitely be checking both hills out

I've never rode switz, but I hear things about it. All I know is there just reopening this year and there passes are $100 more then Sunburst. I think sunburst is pretty hard to beat for its size.

With them opening it just gives you another option on where to go in the Milwaukee Area. So with in a Hours drive (give or take some time) from milwaukee.

On the south end you have Wilmot, Grand Geneva and Alpine Valley.

Then the always forgotten Crystal Ridge!

Then to the north Little Switz and Sunburst.

I don't know if you guys heard but Crystal Ridge is under new ownership they are developing all the land into a sports complex and on the skiing side of things are adding a terrain park the have spoke with arena snowparks and how purchased roughly 30 features. "says there face book page"

My brother used to ski patrol there until it closed and i used to tag along before i could drive and such. It was a nice little place, but the park wasn't much. My brother has been pretty active in the re-opening and says the park will be pretty impressive for the size of the hill, with one side of the hill essentially dedicated to park. Im pretty pumped to head back once just for memories

kind of looking forward to going back there and checking it out. Competition is a good thing, SB has been stepping it up, hopefully Switz opening makes them both step up their game even more

Their fb page says they might have snow tomorrow for their open house. thinking about going in the morning if they do. if someone wants to meet up give me a holler... or not.

no im kinda intrigued by this The Rock thing, they are making it sound like its gonna be awesome.  will def fall short of expectations, but even if its close, this place should be really fun.  Im peacing out from Alp Valley and getting a seasons pass here.

So i ski both of these quite often.

Switz has 3 parks, a beginner (awful), an intermediate ( 1 5-10 ft jump) and a large. The large has a 15-25 ft jump, and various features. the thing I don't like on the large park is how small and cramped it is. If you hit a line right you may have a chance at hitting 1 rail and the jump at the bottom, otherwise you have to hit it feature at a time and then go back up.

Sunburst used to be really cool, they would have awesome trannys, unique rail set ups, etc. but this year (under new management) it sucked. they used to change the park almost weekly, this year they kept the same set up for most of the winter. One side of the park had 2 jumps (15 ft, 20ft-ish) and an Up-Down rail. The other park was 3 rows of 6 rails, all of them pretty short. It wasn't as good as years past but still much more spread out that Switz's.

I guess this thread is old, but i'm posting this for any future veiwers
