Urbans Across Canada Road Trip

Hey skiers of Canada and all that know of some sweet rails!

My friend and I are driving from Montreal to Whistler and have 8 days to get there. So we have plenty of time to hit a few urbans. If you guys knew of any dope rails along the way and would post where and what kind these metal snake like sliding features are, that would be great.

We'll be posting edits, so if you want to see your town in a segment, post!

if no one helps you out just look for hilly regions with buildings near them. also most of the rails youve seen in videos are usually pretty easy to find regardless of what city youre in.

The thing is that we don't want to be wasting time either looking for rails all over town. We only have 8 days to get to Calgary, and it takes 2 without stopping. Therefore we want to know exactly where we are going in order to hit at least one a day.

go a few days earlier so you can find rails? finding urban features isnt that hard just put some time into it

i know of a ton of spots in and around edmonton. in the town a little south of edmonton, there's a pretty good close out. and a bunch of other rails that i know of. PM me if you want to drop by and i'll show you around!

if you guys are down to come to MTL to hit some urbans, I know a WHOLE lot. from kinks, to downs, to big drops, just so many features here in Montreal. No wonder people come to this city to hit urban for all sports (skiing, bike, skate....)

I think its in refresh tom wallisch hits a flat-dropflatdrop rail and skis across the parking lot to hit a long flat bar to like 450 out..this rail is in the east side of ottawa, im trying to find a pic of it but cant...its dope though ive set it up the same way before....so much fun!

Calgary to Whistler is an extra days drive. Best bet would be to fly over the prairies to Calgary, and rent a vehicle from there. Much easier, saves you a ton of time too.

Tons of shit to hit in Ottawa.

Graffiti Wall from refresh - Bronson Ave & Bay st

Archives - DFD & Down rail in the back - right beside the national library on wellington st

Famous Carleton University quad kink - 6inch wide steel

Canada Post building on Riverside Drive - DFD in the back on the way to a bus stop also hit in refresh.

NRC buildings @ blair & ogilvie tons of down rails and urban drops throughout all the buildings

You know whats up about ottawa meng! I dont know why i didnt think about CU and the archives.. Never even thought about NRC either. Theyres also some steep down rails behind the parliament buildings I think? Correct me if im wrong ninth..

I know pretty much every rail in the dryden area and some sick ones in the kenora area. Located 4 hours west of thunder bay on the way winnipeg all along hwy 17 so not much of a detour. hit me up and i can tell you where a bunch of them are.

Nah man. Its not the same feel to fly there. The entire experience is to drive there while hitting urbans across the country, not just part of it. Besides, from what people are posting, there are tons of things to hit in Ontario, and that is the longest part of the drive. If we do it in 4-5 days, its going to be really easy, because its 24 hours to drive through Ontario. The prairies are easy to drive through.

You know what you should do? Download the Red Bull Playgrounds app (www.redbullplaygrounds.com), because we (along with some athletes and filmmakers) added a bunch of urban spots across Canada to it, complete with details, photos and directions to where they are.

And while you're on your trip, I would highly encourage you to add urban spots of your own (and those of you who've made suggestions/posted pictures in this thread should do the same), because it's a super cool app that was created for this reason. So check it out!

It is sick. So much fun, where I learned rails. Has the same atmosphere as an local outdoor hockey rink, under the lights, if you get and understand that feel.

Problem is, we live in Brandon, 2 hours west of Winnipeg. But if you wan't to hit it up while your on your way through, just get a hold of the OP of that thread I posted, sure he'd be glad to help you out.

And if you do decided to drive right through the prairies without making an overnight stay, you need to at least hit up one epic urban feature on your drive through in Saskatchewan and Manitoba so you can stake your claim!

Sounds like a sick trip plan so far. How many guys?

Well, I just checked where brandon is, and it is a whole day detour. Therefore, I am not 100% we are going to have time to hit it up.... I'll see what we can do, but we are still creating our itinerary to get to Calgary. From everybody's posting, I wish I could hit all of these rails, but we all know that will not be possible, because of our lack of time.

I understand to feel you would get from skiing a place like this, it looks like a snow park. We have something like that in Montreal, but its run by the city, I've never been, but it's in that genre.

I will make sure to hit something in the prairies, to show that it is not just a waste of space in Canada. I've been to Saskatoon, and that is not a small city, so I'm sure it won't be too hard to find a few features out there!

We are two guys driving across the country, One skier and one snowboarder, and we will meet up a dozen friends in Whistler.

That's awesome! That is exactly what we need for this kind of road trip. I will definitely check it out and try to install it on my phone. I'll be shooting vids, which will turn into edits and I will post pictures to show what kind of different features there are in Canada along with their locations.
