Hi there,

Im planning to go to Japan for a month and need some new skis! However Im thinking I probably want some skis that I can use in the future back in Europe as an allround ski (i have other park skis, so wouldnt use them for that).

So I've narrowed it down to some Bentchetler 192cm 2012 or Blog 185cm 2012 (£50 cheaper)

Mostly in the past Ive skied all mountain(30%) and park(60%), with the occassional powder day(10%)(depending on the snow in Europe).But now going to Japan, Im looking to ski powder (duh), trees and want a playful ski for some med drops/jumps (no big cliffs or charging), then more all mountain back in Europe. Im 165lbs, 5'11", 24 yrs, from the UK, advanced skier and I dont really want to spend more than £450 (hence looking at 2012 skis).

Obviously the Chetler would be better in the pow and the Blog better on the groomers. But which would make the biggest difference?

Other suggestions are welcome. Cheers.

For Japans legendary pow? Bentchetlers. You could go Blogs and have a great amazing season in japan, but I think for when the snow is super deep, you would rather be on blogs. If blogs came in bigger sizes, I say maybe.
But it's tough call. somthing like the BC wont get much use back in europe. Blog would work better.

For a season in Japan it would be worth it for a total pow specific ski. If you can only bring one ski on this post go something like Blog, sickel, JJ.
If your bringing more than two skis. Bring a allmnt (80-100 underfoot ski) and pow specific ski. On this list my first choice would be ARG. Then the rest tie it for me BC, super 7, DS.

If your getting something for deep pow make sure it's at-least 110 under foot.

There are way more skis than what I listed. Just listed the ones Im pretty sure you could get in Europe.

Ridiculous

Bentchetlers without a question, they won't be as good everyday as the blogs, but a trip to Japan is a once in a lifetime opportunity and the Bentchetlers will make it that much better

I'm your size, in Japan, and ride Blogs 185 in park and pow. Bit heavy for park and could be wider for pow. They do well overall but chatter a bit on hardpack when mounted in front of team center. If you're going to Niseko, then definitely Bent Chetlers. Otherwise either will work in Nigata or Nagano.

I agree with the last guy. The bentchetlers will kill it everywhere. I almost bought them 2 years ago but went instead with a company called skilogik.

I wanted a ski that was just as sweet as the bentchetlers but more unique. These guys use wood inlays and the skis kill it everywhere. I own the Howitzers and the Rockstars and they are so fun. Everywhere I go people stop me and ask about my skis because they have never seen anything that looks so good. Check em out. But if don't want to look at any other skis besides these 2 I think you will have more fun on the bentchetlers.
