After going through 3 replacement brakes on my rossi axium bindings, i invented some of these (claim) ...but they were heavy, bulky, and, because they had to be mounted mid sole, they required a boot mod. They pivoted both ways, unlike normal brakes that only swing "back". when they broke i gave up on them and just bought FKS bindings. the FKS brakes are about the burliest money can buy. When those break though (which they still might) hopefully someone will have developed a solution to this.
might be out of my league and people have tried it before but when you ski you need to be forward and on your toes so the main contact point of your edge is near there right? maybe focus the center of the side cut there. instead of centered. maybe this could help (or make worse) riding switch, since the weight is even heavier on the toes/balls of the feat.
on another note, a few snowboard ocmpanies have started to do the spooned nose and tail. i dont think it would have as great an effect on skis to spoon the nose and tail but if no one has tried it its worth a shot.
Uhmmm well when you ski, Assuming you're in a forward stance, your weight should be on your heels with your toes pushing against the tops of your boots, you would be engaging your tibialis anterior (I think) to move your bodyweight forward. As far as i know, mounting points/sidecut are designed in concert so that the skier can make a good arc.
completely unnecessary. this thread is about ski invention ideas. i assumed that meant if you have any sort of an idea say it. the thread isnt called "tell us the best idea that actually works on skis". you can be ignorant and think what you want im not concerned.
If you're a serious inventor, you're going to have people telling you your ideas suck. 9/10 times, they actually suck, but that 1 good idea will redeem all the failures.
back in like 2004 burton had the dominant where between the feet the edges bent in on the base towards each other. this meant the edge between your feet was just ptex/base material. not the greatest for hard pack. not a bad idea if you want to just hit rails.
idk what it's called but i see alot of people using them, it's basicalled 1 fat ski and they stand on it sideways?!?!?!!? pics if anyone knows what im talking about
I didnt necessarily mean on your toes. but more so on the forward part of your foot. arent you supposed to lean forward into your boots when you ski? wouldnt that make you kind of on the balls of your feet? or maybe im just completely wrong.
