NYC apartments HALP

I know its a long shot, but I figure i gotta use any resources I have at this point.

I'm about to take a job in manhattan (starts monday the 8th), and i was supposed to getting a place with a friend this week, but he bailed at the very last minute. I'm at a total loss, and minorly freaking out. I have temporary housing until the 1st of November, but I really need to find a place.

Anyone know of anyone looking for roommates/sublets/shares in the city? Anyone have any connections to agents/property managers/supers? I know, regionals. But I'm scrambling here, and i'd really appreciate any help i can get. Thanks NS, mad karma for all who post in here.

Whats your budget. I live in NYC (manhattan) so maybe i could ask around. can't guarantee anything though.

I'd rock the bronx but that's cause I'm poor. Depends on how much your making. At least in nyc you can get everywhere pretty easily with a little train hoppage. Def a clusterfuck at certain times of the day though.

lived in the bronx 4 years, trying to get the hell out of there. thats where my temporary stay is though.

what do single and double apartments go for in manhattan? im curious as vancouver is really expensive.

unfortunately I have no advice for ya man, but good luck on the house hunt and good luck with your new job!

you must be pumped dude! i always check craigslist and i am not sure what your budget is, but stuff in queens, parts of brooklyn, and the bronx are a lot cheaper than I had originally thought. i would love to make this move at some point, but I think im gonna keep saving up for now. good luck!

Try Queens. Astoria or Long Island City. It is definately cheaper than Manhattan. LIC is an easy commute into the city too since its only 1 stop away from Grand Central on the 7 train.
It all depends on your budget though. You can get a studio apt in Harlem for $1,500 or a studio in the East Village for $3,000. And Craigslist classifieds suck for apartment rentals. Try renthop.com or streeteasy.com.

have to agree, spent a bunch of time in Manhattan & different parts of queens, after moving to Astoria, I don't think Id ever want to move to the majority of Manhattan/Brooklyn/Harlem

nyc craigslist for apts sucks. its 98% bait and switch sleazes. the manhattan real estate game is so different from anywhere else, its such a headache.
