Ya i thought sooo too, but i heard Surface moved leaps and bounds forward with there durabilty. And i know k2 is bomber, and as of this year, that they have stood the test of time. But i look at topsheet quality, base strength, and the surface blows the k2 away.
Its not just in my head either. I know the New life is a muchhh muchhh stiffer ski and topsheets dont matter. but the base is stronger on the new life aswell.
K2s have a larger sidewall 3.5mm vs industry standard 2.5mm, so base might be sort of weak, but its not gunna get any serious damage done to it. Maybe thats what K2 did. they picked a weaker, but faster base, and then bulked up the sidewall to make up for it...
Anyways thanks for your reply
