Obama definitely came out on top during this debate. I was really disappointed in Romney tonight. But how in the fuck was Benghazi not mentioned!?!? 4 Americans dead, 1 of em an ambassador, and Benghazi is literally not mentioned. I think this was one topic Mitt would have really honed in on and shut down Obama with. I think he was really hoping for it, and when it never came, he got flustered.

I thought it was a close debate and each candidate won in certain areas. I think Romney's closing statement was stronger than Obama's. I also think that he argued his case better than Obama in the China issue but Obama brought up Romney's company which was a good move on his part.

I honestly can't comment on the Pakistan issue because I'd just say FUCK YOU on camera because they are a country that is run by terrorism and I don't think we should be funding them period.

It was close but I think Romney came out a tiny bit ahead in this debate. Just a tiny bit which is good for him seeing as he didn't do so hot in the 2nd debate. I do like how they acted like civilized human beings unlike the VP debate and the moderator was good in this debate. He didn't ask too many stupid questions, except for the israeli bomber question. That's a situation that I don't think should be discussed during the debate and both candidates seemed to agree.

Even if they wanted to, they couldn't just step aside and say "actually I want Ron Paul as president." There would still have to be an election, otherwise it would just automatically go to Biden since he's the VP.

^ That was fascinating, though I'm not sure how it was relevant. He asked what if they just both stepped down, not if there was a tie. If Obama resigned now, Biden would be president until the election, which would still happen even if the candidates change their mind. Ron Paul isn't even running so I'm not sure how this scenario could possibly end up with him in office.

Also that video reminded me just how fucking retarded parts of our constitution are. I always think it's ridiculous when someone says something is right just because it's in the constitution (don't get me wrong, most of it's good, but it isn't divinely inspired). Slavery was in the constitution and that was a bad idea. We should ask if the things in the constitution are right, not just assume they all are.

For example, the electoral college is fucking stupid. I also think there's no point in having a house of congress that is totally unrepresentative of the people. Why does each voter in Alaska have 50x the sway in the senate of a voter in california?

In case none of you can tell, I somewhat resent the fact that my vote doesn't count worth a god damn since I live in California. At least it gives me a chance to vote third party without worrying about inadvertently helping the asshole I hate more.

That gets us onto a whole different problem with US elections........

I was really surprised there was no talk at all about the US's largest trading partner, NAFTA, or any almost crucially important topics like those in a debate about foreign policy. Doesn't make sense at all.

i thought romney hit a home run when he talked about central/south america. he's 100% right. we're so worried about china - halfway across the world. we need to focus on the developing countires in south america which potentially soon we can do large amounts of business with.

I did like that he brought that up... but it's not the answer to the China 'problem' if you will.

I'd much much much rather buy products made in Latin America than China. But then again, Latin America has it's own problems as far as 'cheating' is concerned...

I don't think Obama was throwing the idea of S. America out the window either, but rather saying that we should focus on current issues as well as expanding our own businesses. I don't know if you mean to say he wasn't and Romney was.... but yeah.

I personally think that Mitt has been saying more about what he will do with the problems, and Obama seems to have been just attacking Mitt in the debates. I do realize that this is debate style, but everyone I have listened to and seen, Mitt is telling his plans for the country, and Obama has just been trashing what he has been saying. What are you going to do Obama? Enough about Obamacare, give us some more details about other things you will be doing. I think that it will just be good to get some diversity in office, and that we can't stay doing what has been happening the past 4 years. We should try out someone new, and see what they can do for us! I PERSONALLY think that Mitt has been expressing some better ideas, and I have to say that is who I'd vote for if I could vote that is...

Im sorry but he really doesnt say what he will do with the problems. He says he will "balance all the budgets" and "close loopholes" and "cut needless spending" and has said where in like two areas. He's extremely vague, and if you do research economists say it really does not add up. Granted I mean props to him if there is a way, I really don't know enough about this stuff to say either way, neither do 95% of people on this forum. I'm just saying that he really never says any specifics.

when it comes down to it, has anyone's single vote ever technically "mattered" in history of presidential elections? no. no state has ever been won by one vote. you're supposed vote to send a message and support the candidate who you believe the most in. if every american did this, without the influence of media, businesses, and labor unions putting money behind politicians to get their name out and telling their fan base who to vote for, i guarantee we'd have 2 very different presidential contenders going at it right now.

the electoral college is fucked. each vote should truly be worth a vote, a plurality voting system would be the best way to do so. the candidate with the most votes should be the winner.
