Private messages now public on facebook

If you click say 2011, and then it will say on the right hand side "213 people posted on your timeline" or whatever. Read through those, some of them were private messages.

Just go through the year and click hide from timeline.
Hopefully this was a mistake, but if not, that's a bold move...

same thing happened with a girl at my school a while back, except landschool was the reason. Turns out everyone in the school could read her messages for a minute or two before they had realized they fucked up.

just checked and it showed no results. I read that this thing was just a bug and was fixed. But here soon I am deleting it once I graduate college so I wont have to worry about it any more.

Facebook's description is probably true. People...are stupid. They forget. Look at how militantly against every change facebook has made people always are...and yet if you ask almost anyone what it looked like before, no one remembers. This is a case of that happening again.

Has anyone tried looking for other peoples? I think the PMs are only visible to the user. With that said I see some PMs and I know for a fact that there are definitely some missing. I'm not too worried about it.

Actually not quick, tweeted that earlier that day. Read the comments, but I'm calling bullshit cause I checked my self, and had lots of friends freaking out by this and checking themselves and non "private" messages were revealed.
Also, why would Gizmodo be helping them?

According to Facebook and snopes they are just regular wall posts and not messages, and people are just forgetting what was written on their wall years ago. Don't know if that's true or not but I checked and mine are definitely just old wall posts.

If you post something on the Internet, expect the whole world to be able to see it. There really is no privacy. If people applied a little common sense to how they carry themselves online, they would probably be better off.

pretty much this, I saw a few that I thought would have been private, but I definitely remember some old one's that I would be screwed if they went public, and they weren't there. Either way, anything you post, even if it's on a private message, isn't private to begin with.
