Pivot Heel vs Regular Heel?

I need to get 2 pairs of bindings this season, 1 for a pair of Surface park skis that I won at windells (forget name) and also for my Line TC skis that I bought off of Will Wesson the day before..

I ski 75% park and 25% all mountain, usually 100% park on weekdays at my home mountain and 50/50 on weekends when i go to a bigger mountain/out west

I am 6' 140lbs 16 years old and an expert skier. I have really only used Griffons and am wondering if I should look into getting either the Look Pivot 14 or the Rossi FKS 140.

My binding options are (all at dealer price, not retail..except FKS):
Atomic FFG12
Marker Griffon
Look PX12
Look Pivot 14
Rossi FKS 140

It would be even better if you could help me pick out a binding for each of these skis.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Ideally I would recommend 2 pairs of pivot/fks 14s, That will not be cheap, so if money is a concern you would probably by fine with px 12s or 14s

Money isnt a huge deal since i am getting them at a steep discount.. my only question is that if I have never really had an issue with releasing at the wrong time with Griffons, is it worth it to upgrade?

Go fks. The straight pivot is just eh. The px doesn't have the same retention qualities. The fks is pretty much the only binding that will outlast the skis they are mounted to IMHO

The fks and pivot are literally the same binding so it doesn't matter wichita you get they will both outlast probably 2 to 3 pairs of skis.( my dad still rocks his from the late 90s and they are in great condish

Absolutely. The pivot is a better performing and more durable binding. A pair of pivots should outlast your skis, which will save you money in the long run.

I don't really know what the new pivot is all about but I had a few pairs with the boner heel piece wrapped in plastic. That thing always broke plus the brakes seemed to break a lot. The fks is an all metal heel, the brakes still suck a bit though. Easy to bend at least.

From a tech point of view, mashing the FKS heel with a PX toe is terrifying. The FKS heel was designed in congruence with a single pivot toe piece nearly 30 years ago. They were designed for racers who didn't want to eject from their skis. The PX toe is a dual pivot, split toe design, that was engineered with a heel piece that worked in congruence with its design. Forward pressure measures specific to the FKS and PX, and as such they are two completely different bindings. It would be like coupling an STH toe with an FKS heel. When look/rossi/dynastar mixed the PX and FKS together, they threw forward pressure out the window. I say good luck to anyone who wants their bindings to work properly. They look cool though, but so do knee braces.

The fks are plastic heel as well unless you get the 18 then they come with an all metal toe

I ont really want to start an argument on this kids thread but I have a pair of both . The orange on my fks is peeled of in some places exposing a white plastic

Has the fks design really changed in the past 10-15 years? I'm looking to get some older 140's, the only difference I see is a metal toe piece.

If you can get the WC 15, its got the driver toe, all metal. just buy some bigger brakes.

Alright if your talking about these the heel is metal. These are the same as the fks not the older versions. I have a pair of both they are bomber bindings besides the brakes. Defiantly buy these
