Hey M&A

I never really had the chance to ask for feedback on this edit of Gus and Tom that I made this past summer up at Momentum!

as for the edit, i thought it was dope. the skiing audio fit pretty well. I do agree with what some people say when they say that all your edits are the same, yeah the shots/skiing are fucking top notch, but i'd like to see you try something new. different colors/angles/cuts. I did see that you did some non-fish follows which I really enjoyed (i think the shot of wally at 1:08ish?) regardless it was really sick, but i'd like to see you change it up a bit

Don't know how I missed this, made my day(sounds sad), exposure was perfect as always, focus was a bit off in a couple shots(and I don't mean at the beginning). Woulda been nice if it was a bit closer for some of them,(e.g 1:22,3:04) all the glide shots and the summer ski shots do start to get repetitive, but it was still good.

that was awesome, loved every bit of it, def. the best edit you have done IMO, the only thing i could possibly say was it was a little long, maybe tad bit repetitive and the headers on some of the transitions i thought were kind of odd, but i didnt mind them, the song was sick, skiing was great and the shots at the end were incredible

That edit was really sick, you had allot of good skiing audio and your glidecam work was really good. Also good job at the editing and I liked the logo/text at 0.12.

Don't take this as hate, I promise I'm not hating. Videos are ill and your steadicam work is some of the illest out. I know some of you are gonna call me out and be like "YOU'RE JEALOUS THAT YOU AREN'T DOWNTOFILM BLAH BLAH BLAH"... but maybe if you take my post as food for thought you might get something out of it in upcoming videos.

You seriously should cut it out with doing the same thing for every vid. Every video you made, apart from the song choice and rider(s), has felt like the same exact video to me. Mix it up. Don't copy Eheath's intro. Real-time shots are cool too. If you're gonna ramp, ramp important/sick shit, don't just ramp for the sake of ramping. Flat colors are dumb, it doesn't look artsy or film-like. It just makes it seem like you're a lazy bastard. And don't just double angle to double angle. Only do it if it will truly help with the video's flow.


Oh yeah, let it be known that film burns are played as fuck.

I had maybe 1-2 shots of slow mo up until 2:15, chill bud.

Whats wrong with Glidecams? I dont see you bitching at heath for using one all the time?

Not once did I say anything about glidecams being gay or anything of that sort. I just said mix it up. Nothing wrong with a stationary shot every once in a while, eheath does them. Hence why I don't hate on him.

Take my advice for what it is, or don't. don't matter to me

Cool edit. Definitely better than your normal stuff (I'm not a big fan of most of it).

- FINALLY a good song. Great
- It was too long. Probably because of the song too, but you could cut that. You simply didn't have enough footage to fill up the vid.
- The last minute was obviously the best, thereby making the rest kind of borign
- The first couple minutes were just glidecams, then tripod shots and then the RED. Try changing that up a little
- You should really try framing your shots tighter. They're WAY too spacious. Either get closer or use a different lens. I presume you're filming pretty much everything with a Tokina 11-16.
- You really should do something with the colors. They're way too boring (except for the last minute of course)

Overall: much improved. Keep it up

RED footage was nuts. make an edit out of just your RED footage? It made everything else look like doo doo, not saying that the beginning was bad, just that the end was really fucking good.

Shot at 4:16 should not be there. It's a sick and interesting shot but even the smoothcam couldn't take the shake out.

Like someone said earlier, good song and the colors were a bit boring from the dslr footage.

-I liked the edit a lot man. I liked the transition with the txt, was there any meaning behind it? I just paused the video because i was interested, but it seemed like random words. I think that if you are going to have that transition, maybe make the words mean something, or have a little bit of significance just so if people do actually read it.

-I like the colors a lot, did you do anything to them? The shots looked really crisp.

-Like some other people said it may have been a little long, every shot was worth putting in, but most people do not have the attention span to watch edits that are that long. I enjoy watching them, but i know some people don't, and if you are trying to appeal to a large group of people it is better to keep the edits shorter.

over all that was really sick man, i loved it, keep up the good work

very very very good. your glidecam shots were fantastic, the colors were great and the RED shots were awesome. the only problem I had personally with the video, however, was the constant use of the white text transition film thing, for lack of a better name. it got to the point where it seemed like your only transition, other than a couple of film burns. I guess I just prefer to cut the video to the music more than transitions like that, but im not one to talk. your videos are great and I can learn a lot from your work, keep it up!

Staring at about 3 minutes in is where the edit really started to shine. The first bit is really good but i think the most of the public park and COC stuff could have been cut to make the edit shorter.

I like some of your other edits better. They just look cleaner and kinda more professional(I'm mainly talking about the Nick Geoffer edit and the Sandy Boville edit from last year).

Watch the sandy Boville spring edit and then watch this a lot of that video just seems more appealing.

hahaha i guess i worded this kind of terbbily. Do you use your external mic when you film with your glidecam while skiing? if so then how do you get such fucking smooth shots? Do you weight your glidecam properly?
