Setting up Paypal

I want to sell some gear on here and i want to use paypal. Does anyone know if i need a credit card or anything to start one. Im a youngster so i dont have a credit card or anything. can i still make one?

You have to have verification of your name, age, address, shit like that. You need a credit card or a bank account hooked up to it. Paypal doesn't fuck around with 12 year olds.

hmmm... i signed up for paypal without giving them any financial information. that was 3 years ago. idk what the policy is now but i think there is still a way you can RECEIVE money without giving out any personal information. have you tried to set up an account yet?

So pretty much, you can set up an account, say a kid buys your skis for 200. Paypal takes .4% from it. so you get $192. When it's in your account you can't do anything with it until you have something hooked up to the account. You can't buy anything online, you can't send the money, you can't really do anything. You just have $192 sitting in paypal.

you can hook it up directly to your debit account--no credit card required.

however, if you make a purchase with only a debit card linked to your paypal it takes like a week for the money to go through which results in torturous wait times when ordering online

i'd recommend throwing a debit on, then asking your mom if you can put her visa on the pyapal account. when you make a purchase with a visa on the account the money will still come from the debit card, but with a backup visa on your paypal the payment will be instant. This way the seller recieves and instant payment and can ship you items right away

what i do is just go to a store and buy those prepaid visa gift cards. just set it up as you would with a regular credit card and it works the same.

This math is wrong. .4% wouldn't make $192, it would make $199.20. You plugged in 4%.

i did that when i was younger. if you sell something, you can get the money in your account. you can then send up to that amount of money to other people. however, you cannot withdraw it without setting it up with your bank. and there are limits as to how much money you can use without your account being verified.

when i did it two years ago, it was fine. i know that now they randomly flag accounts for checks (happened to me twice in the past 6 months), where your account is restricted until you verify your information with a copy of your SSN card, ID card and a bill addressed to you. that is where you would run into a major issue, because you cannot withdraw money when it is restricted, so it would be locked away until you turn 18.

if i were you, i would have your parents set one up and you use it, that way it is legit

The first correct response in this entire thread, if you don't know something don't fucking post. You don't need a credit card OR debit card OR bank account to send payments, also when you have your debit card linked up to your paypal it does not take a week to send, it's instant, it only takes(up to a week) when you have it linked to your BANK.

Bottom line:
You need to have parents set up your account.
Withdraw by check for a fee or have money go into parents bank account.

If you open an account in your name and your 15 it will be locked when you try to give proof of any kind that you're a human. Such as address ID and all that jazz. I had to set mine up in my dads name with my bank info when I was 16 and just never bothered to change it
