Does the University of Utah require you to write an essay? Im in the process of applying there now and the only time they ever even mentioned an essay was a 500 word essay if you wished to apply to the honors college. Thanks in advance for the help.

They didn't when I applied last year. They didn't need one for the honors college either. But I think it changed, cuz my girlfriend told me she had to write one to apply, but that might just be for the honors college. I don't know for sure though... It will say on the application.

if an application says something is optional, you sure as hell better do it. It shows that you're interested in the college, and they love when you go above and beyond the bare minimum

Depends if they use holistic review or not. A lot of state schools calculate admittance based on a formula of GPA and SAT/ACT scores and nothing else.

I couldnt even find any where that it said it was optional.That being said im not done applying yet, I stopped where it asked me for my gpa and SAT/ACT scores, I dont have my transcripts with me so It'll will have to wait till tomorrow. Should I apply to the honors college for the hell of it? I have like a 3.4 GPA and my SAT two part was a 1200 so i doubt I'd get in but do you think it would show them that im interested?
