i had some great days pow skiing stowe last year. My goal is to get to some of the mountains that I haven't gotten to on the east coast, such as jay, smuggs, mad river, and saddle back. Im from maine and go to UVM so checking them off the list wont be hard. Definitely stoked on this season

Well yes and no.  You can't just roll up there unannounced, hike up and start sawing shit wherever and however.  Or, I suppose you could, but it would be frowned upon. 

We basically hike around, find dope shit we want to make skiable, run it by management and if they're cool with us working there (they usually are) we get to it.  We know trees and forestry so we aren't stripping the forest or felling tons of trees, it's usually just removing the deadfall from shittacular weather events and pulling out the moose maple that springs up seemingly overnight. 

In recent years though, I've tried to get on teh same page with management and it has gotten WAY more productive as a result- also we get to ride up on the red chair insteaed of hoofing it up with heavy gear and shit.

Unofficial Networks and Ski the East actually BOTH just did articles on this today.  (I'm Matt BTW, so if you guys want to come up and work or ski trees, let me know and I'll show you around!)

There is no better feeling than snaking through some tight trees and finding that spot that it just opens up and gives you deep turns that have not been skied by anyone in a multi-day 50" storm-cycle...

haha im actually thinking about making a trip from whistler back to sugarloaf for like a week to go skiing this year as odd as that sounds. Theres still a ton of stuff on the east coast that i wanna go hit up, like the newfoundland fjords, the places in quebec posted earlier in here, khatadin, and i could definitely have another go at tucks as well. I doubt ill get to any of that if i come out, but maybe one day...

i couldn't suppress my disbelief, the Torngats look absolutely amazing. I would hasten to say that they are more arctic than east coast though, theyre a whole nother level of remote compared to mt washington, katahdin, etc
