i only watched the first 5 minutes. who knows how many people they interviewed and then cherry picked the most favorable answers. I can't remember who posted it, but I agree that if it was a snowboarder only mountain they would say the same thing about skiers. How about snowboarders start a resort that allows only snowboarding?

Yep even if they could they really wouldn't want to. and I'd probably freak out if I was headed out the high T and and had to stop and wait for 10 boarders on a pow day.

.yeah, I support Alta's choice in this matter, if anything not allowing snow wording brings in more skiers then it probably would snowboarders. Same goes for MRG, I don't known many snowboarders that enjoy moguls.

I'm split on this issue. I fucking love snowboarding, but I do feel like it's great to have an exclusive mountain. I mean, shit, snowboarding has High Cascade. It's the same issue. I probably would've signed that petition though haha.

as long as High Cascade is around I don't give two fucks about Alta being exclusive.... in fact I love that shit even though I like to ride with boarders more than anyone... I'll probably never ride there but fuck it.

Mad River is skier only, so is Alta (two of my favorite mountains) and it would probably suck to snowboard at. The trees at MRG are too tight fro snowboarding, and at Alta the traverses would suck dick with boarders. Also I agree with *simba about how boarders would be even worse. These interview videos always portray the interviewees so bad though. hahahaha

you guys must work for burton, those fucking assholes, hahahaha, AWESOME, how about instead of snowboarding at alta, they just don't allow skiing at brighton or some crap, i'd be stoked to go snowboard for a day at a snowboard only mountain, remember how fun terrain parks were when no skiers were allowed? (also the forrest service land thing isn't that special, tons of mountains are on forrest service lands)

Some good lols there.

We've got huge traverses at my home hill and others I've skied at. Good snowboarders make them work, and it can be frustrating to go around people that don't have a clue, but I wouldn't tell them to get off the mountain.

I spent years getting turned away from skateparks because I was on a bmx bike. Can't say that I'd ever want to bring that sort of discrimination to Alta.

And I won't be spending my money there.

I agree, the traverse comment is kinda dumb. If you dont want to take the tram at Big Sky you have to traverse a good ways around the side to get to the back, and I ride with plenty of snowboarders that handle it just fine.

this is their demographic.. old farts who dont wanna be around snowboarders, let them have it. as many others already mentioned.. alta would suck for snowbro-ers-- lots of traversing and lots of angry old ski dudes.

Alta's demographic is made up of skiers in their 60s and 70s who have been skiing their whole life and have grown up without snowboarding. The old guys are badass as fuck though but i mean i dont have an opinion on this because ive never been to Alta, and I don't mind snowboarders.

As a business decision what alta has done is very smart. Their target customer is the slice of the market which brings the most revenue to any other resort. The older generation adults and families and beginners. Theyre the ones who will spend the money in the lodge, the restaraunts and hotels and will fork out for lessons. By aiming at this demographic and excluding the others it increases the volume of people as its these people who will go there because the other parts of the demographic are excluded. I mean its understandable for a parent want their children to be safe and if they associate snowboarders with being dangerous to them they will go. Its entirely fair play if alta dont change as its clealy working for them. Personally i feel the mountains are for everyone to enjoy and wouldnt exclude anybody.

this. its entirely the company's right to restrict who they sell tickets to because the Forest Service grants Alta authority over that part of the canyon during the winter months. most of the arguments these people made were not intelligent, but the skiers-only restriction has been working effectively for Alta business and thats probably the way it will stay for the forseeable future.

personally, im down with the way alta is because im selfish and don;t want any more people crowding there, as well as clogging up the mouth of the canyon even more than it is already. go to snowbird and shred there, its fun.
