If you could see 5 minutes into the future...

How far ahead would you want to look? Would you even want to see into the future? What time of day, day of the week, and how many years from now would you wanna see?

I often think about this topic. A lot of time I think I would wanna see 5 minutes on a Wednesday around 2-3PM when I am 45. I feel like I would know where and what I do for work. How my life is going in terms of a family (check for wedding ring, family pictures)....

And what if you looked ahead and saw 5 minutes of blackness.

the point of the idea is that you cannot change anything. You can just see it for 5 minutes. You cant tell yourself anything or actually do anything. You just see it.

But if you're always looking 5 minutes into the future, then it will be like you're living 5 minutes in the future, so the future is really the present and the present is just a thing of the past.

this idea has failed. the point is you see your life. you dont control anything at all. You just see what your life is in the future for 5 minutes. You cant tell your future self to look at the stock market to make tons of money.

yup. stock markets. Now if we're talking past, I might try to see either the Airborne or seaborne landings of d-day, or see the battleship duels of Guadalcanal. Or the carrier battles of Midway. Or shit, maybe I'd spend five minutes in Bastogne during the German siege.

I look at the stocks in the paper every morning at the same time after my jog whilst I drink my cappuccino.

Using my incredibly memory I will invest in what I saw and acquire copious amounts of money.

Yeah pretty much. It's terrible. He can see like 2 minutes into the future but then he meets someone who lets him see forever and it turns out the whole movie was him just looking into the future so really it's pointless

i'm well aware of that as i can read. i said that the only reason I would want to be able to see in to the future would be to exploit it for monetary gain. hence the "fuck that"...as in I wouldn't look. i have no desire to have a peak at what my life would be like at 45. i have enough to worry about in the present.
