I went there, did my undergrad in finance.
here is my honest opinion:
It's a great place. gorgeous and so so much fun. but it's a huge school, and it's extremely easy to get caught up in non-academic things and watch your grades become less of a priority than they should. It's also difficult to learn well in classes of 200+ kids all the time until you're a junior/senior.
In retrospect, I would have gone to a smaller school for the better quality learning experience. But when I was 18, instead of 25, I just wanted to party and go nuts and get a degree somewhere in there. College is awesome, so awesome, but you just have to remember that what you do will determine the rest of your life. Seriously, it will. I'm back in a graduate program now getting my masters because my degree from CU didn't get me very far (my own fault, my GPA was a 2.85, piss poor).
If you are very good with time management and very dedicated to your studies, go for it! But if you struggle to pay attention in regular classes now, it's a serious consideration you should make.
i hope that helps. i don't mean to discourage you at all, i'm just trying to be honest with you because not many people can speak from my same perspective on this with regards to CU
