Shot some wedding photos today! What do you think?

Hi M&A!

One of my long time friends had a wedding today so I decided I would shoot some photos for him seeing as hes done so much for me in the past.

If you have any thoughts please let me know. I will post just a couple of the hundreds that I took mainly of the bride and groom.

I liked most of the compositions themselves but the editing wasn't doing it for me.. The shots seemed to lack contrast and the colors weren't very punchy .. I know these are settings that are easily overdone but the flatness of it isn't very appealing to me. Just my 2 cents.

Word, I hear ya.

I dont know what it is about me but I love the flat look on anything an everything.

I dont like saturated, over contrasted photos but I see where you're coming from and I will change it up.

skin tones are a bit off, but I agree that they look a bit too flat. It's a wedding and I think it's a day where contrast and bright photos are okay to use. I thought the composition was great though. There also seems to be a green tint in most of them

I actually really love this edit, skin tones remind me of fuji provia. Definitely liking like 2/3's of em, really impressed considering I've never seen you shoot photos outside of instagram. As for the editing, those washed out, slightly green colours are great for video, but they don't exactly work for photography IMO. There is a difference between having contrast, and having it look like an hdr. Don't be worried to add contrast, as long as you don't crush the blacks or blow the highlights it will be fine.

Here's tip for how to edit to look like film, which is what I'm assuming your trying to do:

Shots and compositions are good. Especially like the second to last one!

Editing isn't my style either. I'm not a fan of the look and you applied it incosistently throughout the set. Try going for one look and get sort of the same colors and tones for every image, that way it's more a 'whole'.

As for the shot where they're standing in fron of the altar: you really gotta do something about the sky. Get a graduated filter in post or something and expose it a little less or something. Also make it a bit warmer.

And I have to agree with Zac: good stuff considering I've never seen you shoot a photo before!

After years of trying to perfect the flat look, I decided I was wasting my time and switched to film. In my opinion the accuracy of digital is not suitable for the idiosyncrasies of such a style.

Don't shoot weddings with UWA, unless you are in a nice looking building.

Wasent really stoked on any of the wide angle shots, even this one I wasent really stoked on.

The corrected ones look great but I have always had a love for the flat look. Not everyone loves it but I don't know, something about it makes stuff look awesome!

I really like the low-contrast grading

I don't like that some of the grading was inconsistent, i.e. you had some photos that were tinted green like the one of the bride (which i favored more for tint) and others that had the purple tint (the UWA picture)

Nice shots!

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of trying to make things look vintage in this type of photography (the flat look). Weddings are a once-in-a-lifetime event and personally I'd prefer the photos to reflect the present time.

I mean it might look cool today to make the photos emulate 70-ies film look... but if people will look back on these photos in 30 years it will be really awkward that these photos look like they are from the 70-ies. I'd use a more contemporary color grading.
