No, 60d is very average at photo, poor build, AF is meh, slower burst, either save your money and get a 40d or spend a bit more and get a 7d.

Coming from the man who owned a 60D. Honesty is always good. But yeah, the 60D isn't really worth it. A second hand will run you around 700$, while a second hand 40D is like 300-350? And it's basically the same camera, but without photo.

The 40D is a GREAT camera for the price; definitely the best bang-for-the-buck out there at the moment. Can't go wrong with that.

Thanks for the great replies guys :) I'll probably save up for a 7D in the future! Hopefully the price of it will drop when that rumored 7D mark ii comes out!

Or pick up a 40d for the time being. You could easily grab one for $300-350.

If you aren't already invested in canon glass, I would suggest getting a Pentax k-5. Thing is an absolute monster for the price point

I already got 3 Canon lenses so switching to Nikon isn't ideal for me :p

A 7D is super 'cheap' nowadays. The price dropped drastically. You can pick one up for 900$ easily, which is a LOT less than half a year ago.

What do you shoot mostly? That's the most important thing.

Stick with the 600D I'd say. Or get a 40D if you don't like the small flimsy body.
I don't know your lens lineup, but that's what matters most. Get used 1d mkII. That would be your best bet if you can handle the size.

Just checked ebay: you can get a mk II for 400-450$... That's insane. Pay 100$ extra and you get the mkIIn if you want the bigger screen.

1dII/1dIIn was a pleasure to own and use. Anyone who shoots sports primarily, GET THIS. See what the 1d legacy is all about. The AF is incredible, the images look stunning (even for outdated processing and pixel tech, I thought it was one of canon's finest!), and the build, my god!

I suggest the 1dIIn, as the really small 2" screen on the II does not allow for enough viewing to really confirm you got your shot right. Spend the extra money to get one with a lower shutter count, and buy some lexar batteries on amazon. They have newer tech than the original canon ones, which will have lost a lot of potential over time.

KEH.com, last I checked, will tell you shutter count if you call in and ask them about it. They'll give you a great description about the specific camera and why it's rated what it is.
