Input from tonight:
Toms:
First little down rail is fun. Corrugated is great. Barrel bonk is great. Double barrel was good, but unfortunately it was closed off after my first run through it. The rail after it is uh..... just weird. Didn't see a single person hit it. Cannon to barrel is awesome, but it's too close to the jump if you want to hit both jumps after. Both jumps are great assuming you have enough speed; really poppy!
Stinger:
I don't really like the placement of the first two jumps (I would like them a bit farther down, and a bit closer to the center), but as far as size and everything else goes they're also great if you have enough speed. I didn't hit the cannon tonight, so I can't say if the landing has improved or not. Both the lower jumps were closed by the time I got there. The corrugated's kicker and landing were MUCH better this time around, and it's now a useful feature in the run. The new lift tower setup is great, and the wide lip is soooooo nice! The 32 is nice, but I wish the front of it went over the lip urban style; it's just more comfortable for me when I'm spinning onto something. Also, I wish there was a bit more space between the 32 and the next 2 rails, but if you stick the landing you're definitely in good shape for the next hit. The flat bar is awesome. The kink is pretty good. The up part is fun for spinning off, and I think it puts you at a good angle for the landing, however I would prefer if it was down-flat, with the flat part hanging over the landing a bit more (so that you land more downhill if you fall off at the kink). The flow from the corrugated to the last rails is absolutely perfect if you stick all the landings. If you put a couple features between the cannon and the corrugated you would have a serious park.
I noticed that ALL of the kickers on both runs were widened, and that was a really great and important improvement.
Now for the bad part:
The box thing is a real issue. I've seen alot of people attempt to hit features far beyond their ability level because they can't hit boxes. It wastes the lip of the kickers for the experienced skiers/riders, and it puts the inexperienced people at a serious safety risk. What exactly is the issue you're having with the screws? Are you countersinking them properly? Are you using a screw with a head made for countersinking? Are you using HDPE, or another material? Have you considered nuts and bolts as an alternative? If it's happening to all of the boxes and it isn't happening at other resorts, then it's pretty obvious that the issue is in the development, not the weather or the people using the features.
I'm going to give a C- to the park in it's previous condition (what I last reviewed), and a B- to tonight. Add some boxes, get a B. Put something in the middle of Stinger to fill the gap after the cannon, B+. Make the 32 urban-style, A-. Add all the other beautiful rails that I have to look at every time I take the lift, A. Doing all of this with proper placement (for example the jumps at the top of Stinger) and flow, A+. I know B- sounds harsh, but it really was a significant improvement from last week, and I definitely had a great night at Sundown tonight.
