Replying to Taurine (Red Bull)
I've been working on a research paper and the topic is taurine. If you are not familiar with this it is an amino acid that is found in most energy drinks and is what red bull stresses (what red bull is named after). I've just started the research but for what i can find, all the research suggests that taurine does not increase engergy. Taurine is normally produced in the body and supplementation is suggested not to be nessasary in normal people. Infact the only major factors taurine does is in infants and bile for digestion and aids in the movement of potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium in and out of cells.
So my question is, because our sport is highly involved with red bull and energy drinks. why is it that taurine is even in energy drinks?
