So i've always filmed and edited in 720p 60fps and I've always wanted to find a DSLR with the capability to shoot at 1080p 60fps for great high quality slowmotion. Just wanted to ask NS if you guys had any ideas on cameras or information I should know about when shooting in that frame rate and size?
Would a Sony a57 be good for action sports video as well as landscapes and long exposures? Pretty much an all around dslr.. 60-40 video to photo. Kinda unrelated but I didn't want to make a thread about it.
and the g6 I believe. to anyone looking at this, keep in mind the format/codec (not sure how to word it). The gh3 for example shoots an all intra avchd for 24p, but it uses a completely different format for 1080/60p, which may or may not complicate your workflow. Also, as a side note, intra can be great for slowing down, I have heard it plays nicely with twixtor, even at 30p (possibly 24p as well). its no substitute, but these are all things to consider
Yeah sorry, I mistyped there. I understand the translucent mirror technology and how it's a separate category, but my question was just asking if it would be a good camera for those purposes.
With Sony SLT's, don't you lose like a whole stop of light or something because of the mirror getting in the way? I guess that's not terrible for skiing since it's always so god damned bright anyways with snow, but for low-light indoor shit it must blow.
it's a 1/3 stop I'm pretty sure. Not too much of a difference but for low light it is a little worse. They have good noise handling at high ISO's though so that might balance it out a bit
