Can't believe this debate is still going on.
Hilarious part about this post is that a lot of people who really know their shit about men's tailored clothing wouldn't touch Bestetti's shoes. Way too trendy, too pointy, too elongated. Just way too extreme to be really elegant, despite being very nicely made (and accordingly expensive). Not to mention have you seen the RTW line? Some of that stuff is just... way, way out there. The style of shoe associated with Italy these days (Bestetti is an example not an exception) is too dramatic. English makers FTW.
Personally I wear Alden because a) I got over the whole uber-sleek Italian ferrari sportscar phase when I was 21, and b) they are the only maker of nicely lasted well-built shell cordovan jawnz that you can get for around $500 a pair, which is what seems reasonable to me. And yes, I probably know as much or more about dress shoes and dress shoe construction than you do - though I guess for all I know you're Ron Rider. But given you're posting on NS I'd say it's a pretty good bet.
I will not be hating on Attolini suits, good for you (mine are made by Rafaelle Caruso by the way) but buying X, Y or Z doesn't mean you know what's going on. Some of the dudes on Styleforum's Men's Clothing section, which is the best repository for information now that AAAC is dead, write books on this stuff. Some of them would endorse your views, but for the most part people realize that it's like the difference between a Mozart piece and an Arcade Fire album - you can't compare the two, they're different genres, but they can both make good music.
I just go back to my original point - if you don't nerd out about this stuff, forming strong opinions on it is the same as non-skiers who have strong opinions on urban skiing. "What's the point of skiing on metal? Skis are made for snow." They have no frame of reference and it's facepalm-worthy stuff.
Actual classy sneakers are pretty easy, by the way, guys. It's called the Achilles. They've been making them for years in god knows how many colourways and materials.
Can't you two bitches suck each other's dicks over clothes in the Lookbook cult about it with the rest of the clothes queens? We get it. You're so stylish that mere mortals like us can't possibly fathom how stylish you really are. You only look like idiots to the untrained eye- I should have known.
Get real. You fucking fashion femmes call yourselves men??? All I see is a bunch of bitches obsessed with accessorizing who can't wait to prance around for pics to post to other shallow bitches to critique how they look. Shit's sad as fuck. Talk about the pussification of the modern man, why don't you guys just gave a good old fashioned fashion show or a walk-off and settle this like Hansel and Zoolander would?
I only date guys who wear Jiberish and slap me around.
lol...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Nah man, you're good. Nothing conceited about that!
I guess I was wrong about you fashionista frolickers. I guess the "male fashion industry" doesnt exist solely so guys who can't help themselves from acting like total bitches don't have to resort to full crossdresser status after all. I was way off. You guys aren't shallow insecure douchebags at all!!
